As a displaced Twin Citian

, I agree. The city (Mpls - I don't want to talk about St. Paul and disturb its sleep) has a chain of lakes your can bike or run around. There's a refrigerated 400m speedskating oval that is used for inlining during the summer. MN has the best state fair anywhere - and I will impale you on a stick, deep fry you, and eat you if you disagree. It's more liberal than the scary surrounding states (a good thing IMO). And most people are reflexively polite, although not the type to bare their souls.
On the downside, there is hot dish = MN casseroles. My family never ate these weird ass meals, but I know of people who regularly enjoyed a mix of some canned soup, peas, and tuna, sprinkled with potato chips or tater tots. I think this is what the cafeteria in Hell serves every Tuesday. And then there is the double use food/floor cleaner known as lutefisk. As a non-Norwegian, I have only been exposed once to this odd, lye-based culinary treat. I'm still in therapy over it.
