| This was really good stuff. If I play the age card, it isn't for one millisecond to devalue anyone younger, especially not anyone within the first one or two presidential campaigns in your life...
But I go back a ways, and I had my hopes dashed decades ago by assassins bullets. I had worked hard for people I believed in, and they didn't just not get to fulfill their promise, they died. My hopes, and my very belief in the goodness of people to govern one another by a vote of the people, suffered.
I'm hoping once again.
To the cynics who would laugh, behind their backs or to my face, I can only say this: if he wins, and it is still a big if, and then fails, it won't be any worse than not one, but two four-year terms of the most embarrassingly unintelligent and willfully malicious administration this country has seen, possibly forever. And for all their blights, for all the hurt visited upon myself and those I share this country with, the thing that offends and hurts me most is the divisive bile they have spread, and the populace that is so numbed to the concept of working together.
It can't be worse. And my heart tells me that there is every reason to believe that it can be much, much better. The next 60+ days will be about getting my head in sync with my heart, and doing whatever I can to convince others of the same. I've never felt it more important to go out of my comfort zone, and I'm going to do it in full knowledge that it might not work. I won't let my passivity allow the status quo to continue.
Enough.
