I guess I'm a cynic. I can't remember any convention speeches in my entire life that weren't almost clones of each other, filled with promises they'll find harder to keep than make and high-minded sentiments that sound great and stir the heart, but don't really put food on our tables or money in our pockets once the candidate took office.
Obama was no different in that respect, I thought - but to me the difference with him is the character of the man behind the words. I think he is genuine and I think he honestly believes he can do all those things he said.
It's a good start. I just hope the glow lasts once he's in office.
