Saturday I experienced the most terrifying moment I have ever had in my life.
I bought a motorcycle about 4 months ago and took the Motorcycle Saftey Foundations class.
This past Saturday I was riding on the interstate and I had my front tire blow out. I don't know how I did it, but I managed to keep it upright (despite my bike wanting to do otherwise) and pull off on to the side of the road.
I come back and get it later and load it onto a trailor.
This is my rant:
Tire places DON'T SELL motorcycle tires. They won't touch them. Big 10, Fausaks, Trax Tires, none of them. They DO NOT DO motorcycle tires.
To get a replacement tire? I had to go to the suzuki dealership.
Yesterday, I paid 285.00 for ONE TIRE... One... It's rubber, it's not some space-age composite, it is a piece of rubber.
Edited to add:
Apparently, it is really important to check your tire pressure With a Pressure Gauge.
They believe what happened was I had a slow leak and it went to about 25 PSI (instead of the recommended 41).
Visually, you can't tell however, being that low caused the front tire to overheat and it blew the seal to the rim.
