I'm not sure exactly what's true and what's not about media's view about PETA, but what I do know is that medicine testing isn't as simple question as you might think it is.
You remember the Nevrocedyne (sorry about spelling) scandal. A lot of young mothers ate medicine to calm them down thinking it was safe. The medicine company that had tested them on animals said they were. And it was safe - for the animals, but not for the unborn babies.
Have you tried aspirine? Scientists has found that it's not only good for pain relief but has a lot of other benefits too. Well guineapigs die from it. If they had been dependant only on the animal testing, we wouldn't be able to use aspirine.
There's an organization in the US that, have forgotten the name, but it's an organization for medical doctors that are against animal testing, not because of the animals, but the risks of being dependent on them.
A lot of the money fo aids research goes to the attempts to get monkeys to get aids, they don't usually get that, only HIV. Is that where we want the research money to go?
