We had this talk about feminism - I see it as inherently flawed because it fights for women's rights, not for equality. You countered, and effectively, but I still believe that the goal of any organization must be to fight for what is right, not against an injustice. Men who support equality aren't called Feminists, they're just good guys. They're decent and moral guys. So, why have feminism instead of a fight against injustice based on gender?
Men too face injustice. So do white people. Where are the movements for that? No where, because they have to counter-point against movements. |
Because movements come together not because people are bored, but because enough of them are getting screwed hard enough that they have no other choice but to fight back.
Also, because there is a difference between individual injustice and injustice that is so built into the culture and law that it takes a sledge hammer to knock it out - that's what causes movements.
Ideally, as the original wrongs are addressed, the movement broadens and becomes neutral.
