actually, its quite worse. You are assuming that both vehicles weigh the same in your example.
Because the car weighs much more, the scooter is going to decelerate and then accelerate backwards at a high rate of speed....the car basically not even being affected by the collision.That rapid change in direction is extremely destructive.
