Okay, but PETA doesn't.
The overwhelming majority of animals brought to their rescue shelter, around 80%, are euthanized. A government-run ASPCA shelter three miles away from that finds homes for all but about 30% of the animals they get. Both shelters take in roughly the same number of animals.
The majority of PETA's budget is spent on advertising. Not taking care of animals, not donations to other shelters, but ads comparing eating a hamburger to the Holocaust and wearing a leather jacket to the humanitarian crisis in Darfur.
By all means, everyone should care about the mistreatment of animals. But no one should donate time, energy, money or concern to this organization that only cares about pushing its propaganda and bizarre agenda.
