I expect RL companies that participate in
SL to do the following:
1. Provide a service that is relative to your customers.
Your customers enjoy
SL, make quality products that are relevant to
SL. When I am in
SL, I could care less about fancy products and marketing for stuff that's not in
SL, in fact, when I see an company within
SL doing RL marketing it has the opposite affect on me. If your RL company can't do this, it is a waste of your resources (and ours) for you to be in
SL.
2.
I understand that as a company, your bottom line is your priority.
With that said, your bottom line is going to reach rock bottom if you don't:
A. Provide a Quality Product B. Provide excellent Customer Service
If you are lacking in this dept, please see numerous bits of information from Persephone Milk on the subject.
C. Listen to feedback from your Customers.
Linden Lab fails this test miserably
3.
Respect your environment.
While
SL is Your world, it's also My world, and the world of every resident here.
4.
Understand and respect the culture that you are doing business within.
5.
Professionalism.
A lot of business's in
SL fail this test because they end up involved in a ton and a half of drama. That is not professional at all.
6.
Get to know your demographic (without insulting them (see Mitch Kapor)).
Understand who is involved in
SL, why they are here, and respect that.
7.
Understand and know the limitations of the system you are working within and adapt your business model within SL to accomodate.
There are failed transactions these need to be handled.
There are system outages.
There are inventory losses.
All of these must be handled by you.
See many of the posts by Coco for more information.
That's what I expect from any business in
SL.
There are few that make the mark.
