What we have is a set of limited tools that are used to interface with the environment around us. We can't see all of it, and we can understand even less of it, and sometimes parts of it go wrong. It's never perfect. But we can use it to work, play, and interact with other humans. We can build relationships, communities, and even ways of life with these tools.

Now, am I talking about the Second Life viewer, or the human cerebral cortex and senses?

Humans assign meaning to things, not the things themselves.
