I totally agree but thus far the benefit for me has outweighed the risk of someone exploiting a vendor. I would assume if the vendor was exploited it would show somewhere, transaction log or something?

I agree that server lag can be an issue but that's prevelant everywhere. Textures should load no slower than they would on individual placards. In fact since you are only viewing one image at a time it should load the area much quicker.

When it comes to textures I find alot of folks do not take any time to optimize graphics for Sl purposes.

I hadn't thought of the one outfit pic with buttons of varying colors I'll have to build something like that and give it a run. That would work for outfits of varied colors but not skins or products with a similar theme but different looks. Like my Slayer line. I am putting them into a Vendor for the HG move to save prims. They are all very different but posess the same theme.
