| 512 is too small... although the US$0 tier is nice for those who just want a place to anchor themselves. I would say that 1024s do sell better.
Aside from the lack of prims (you can use up 117 pretty quickly) a 512 doesn't give you much buffer space in case an abutter raises/lowers/flatten his or her land, puts up 100m high megaprims, etc.
I have sold several 512s, and no adfarmers have ever cut up the parcels so far. I have had them buy isolated 16s and 32s from me in the past (although I prefer now to give them to the Arbor Project.) It is very common for adfarmers to swap lots amongst themselves while perfectly good 512s languish unsold next door for months on end. Quite often, the 512's asking price will be less than that of the adjacent microplots.
Whatever it is they are up to, the adfarmers currently don't seem terribly interested in acquiring 512s (although I know of one or two who branched out into buying and selling real-sized plots.)
