Okay it's just about done.. and now comes the issue of pricing. I'm never terribly good at this. I underprice, I overprice, and generally I struggle to please the customers (and thus sell more) and at the same time respect my own work and effort.
So, here's the art.
414 prims, 22 parts. Hand aligned joints, tons of shiny, a little flexy, a little glow too. Flight pack and a separate freebie flight assist hud (so people can use the flight pack for effects WITH their own favourite multi-tool.). Glowy flames, cool sound effects.. Glowy cyber eyes, and "cyber-hair" that you can wear on your other avatars as well.
In all honesty, I've been working on this for 3-4 weeks now. Not as super heavy as "every single day" but it's been my only real "project" for the last few weeks. (and we're talking 8-16 hour days)
As for other avatars on the market, price varies. Furries, which are worn "every day" run around L$800-1000. Bigger, more impressive avatars cost more, cheaper novelty ones cost less.
This avatar is a bit small. Really it's 1.5meters, which puts it at belly/breast height for most avatars. It's easy at a glance to decide that this is a "child" avatar. It's definitely "child sized" as it was planned as a "toy robot". It's DEFINITIVELY female.. with obvious prim breasts. While this may lower it's appeal to the guys out there, there are also VERY FEW female robots in
SL. However, I'm not sure that many would choose this as their "everyday look" or "identity avatar".
It's moddable, which is a feature. Aside from the jetpack, it's pretty much entirely unscripted. I looked at how much work it would be to SCRIPT colour changing into all 22 parts, and I simply decided that it was too much work, and much easier to leave it cop/mod and let people tinker.
So, there's the data... Let's hear what you think.
