Ok.. after fighting all day with the computers to make them work.. I finally got it. (YAY) We were both logged in and all is well.
I messed with my router, redid my home network settings.. nothing. Even tried using OpenLife because the connecting to PCs thing looked easier and they seem to have physics enabled so prims are solid..nada.
The culprit? That weak sauce Windows Firewall! It wouldn't allow her PC to connect even though I was totally networked and even shared my entire C drive with her PC at one point. Drove me bananas.
To configure Windows Firewall to work on a network to share OpenSim:
1. Go to Control Panel
2. Open Windows Firewall
3. Go to the Exceptions Tab
4. Add Port
5. Name it OpenSim
6. Input Port Number 9000
7. Click Ok
8. Enjoy.
Yes, that may be obvious to most but if anyone like me comes along and tries the instructions above (Which worked perfectly) I just wanted to leave this here in case they hit the same bump I did.
