(oops, just realized this is a redundant post now since I was reading a cached page rather than the latest stuff on this thread. I'll leave it here anyway).

2. The only person who I really need to import to my sim to build with is my wife. Is there a way for her computer to connect to mine through the network and she just log in to the same sim? I assume that is a bit different then me, say.. asking Joshua to come to my sim?

Hmm, not too sure what you mean here. Isn't having your wife log in just the same as having Joshua log in? Unless you're talking about your wife logging in via the LAN and Joshua coming in from the internet at the same time, in which case your router has to support NAT loopback, as discussed above.
Of course, if only people on your lan need to log in, you can use the local lan ip for OpenSim instead.

Sorry if these are like those SL newbie questions that get answered all the time. I do feel like I am a newbie all over. |
Well, one thing about OpenSim is that open source developers, for better or for worse, are not always the greatest at writing documentation. Luckily, users contribute to the documentation wiki at opensimulator.org or write great tutorials, like Maxx. So asking the newbie questions is good in any case anyway, since some of the answers may not be written down yet (and hopefully that should spur the creation of better faqs).
