Two questions for you who are seasoned users. And really, these are questions that I would be cool with just a link to the answer if you don't have time to type. I can follow that stuff usually.

1. If I go and build my sim and get it all cool looking and feel it is "home", what happens if I ever change PCs or have a harddrive failure? Is there a way to back my sim state up and reload it later if needed?

2. The only person who I really need to import to my sim to build with is my wife. Is there a way for her computer to connect to mine through the network and she just log in to the same sim? I assume that is a bit different then me, say.. asking Joshua to come to my sim?

Sorry if these are like those SL newbie questions that get answered all the time. I do feel like I am a newbie all over.

Cristiano or Joshua, if this detracts from the thread direction feel free to move it or make it it's own thread.
My non-explored answer is - you can backup the entire "opensim" directory and it is portable - I've moved a single region setup, and assuming you are using SQLite (not the more involved MySQL install - which you probably are) and have all the settings in opensim.ini set, you'll have all your prims and the local SQLite database moved over.

I have been making backups of things that I'm experimenting with, and it works.

One thing I've noticed is that you shouldn't have more than one "opensim" directory visible from the root drive - I've run into crashes that way. If your backup is stuffed away at least one directory level 'down' from the root, (say, the C:\ drive in the tutorial) you should be just fine.

As for your wife connecting, I am meaning to get tutorials all setup for that - I believe you can, she just has to point her client to your machine's IP - substituting its address for the 'localhost' that is in the modified shortcut I've told you to make when logging in locally.

I hope that made some sense, if not - I'm sure one of the awesome devs can help out, like justin, etc..

Been busy, I'm going to put up some more useful material, I swear!
