First thought:Makes good sense. Rosedale isn't leaving, he'll still be chairman and work at LL day to day. But they'll be bringing in someone whose specialty is running a company, not developing new technology, and that is overdue.
But ... damn. End of an era. I talked to Rosedale once. I remember how genuinely enthused he was about the company and how he wanted to hear ideas on how to make it a better place - even from me, a "nobody." I can't help but personally like the guy, despite the faults in LL management. I hope the transition is a smooth one - for him and us.
