It may happen, but it ain't gonna happen anytime real soon. The OpenSim initiative, while promising many shiny bells and whistles (HTML on a prim!), is still in alpha stage, only for the true frontier settler at the moment.
My guess? LL has about 1-2 years before its nimbler competitors beat it at its own game.
