Forgive me for posting links and excerpts, but I'm exhausted and I don't want to redo the entire thing once again. Quote:

It’s enough to make any person trying to break into SL content creation turn tail and run for the hills.
Laynie Link was pushed up against a wall this week when she released a few dresses, sales were to be donated to Autism Speaks - a research group regarding autism. An avatar (who Laynie didn’t know at the time) named Lalinda Lovell began spamming groups, saying “Don’t support it!” linking people to the aforementioned Wiki page, and justifying her actions further by hacking Second Life and taking Laynie’s creations and passing them around for free. “Here guys, you won’t have to buy this - I just ripped it, have it for free! Boycott Layniewear!”
What a cruel thing to do, especially to someone as kindhearted as Laynie.

[16:08] Laynie Link: and was demanding teagan and i take it down
[16:09] Laynie Link: i tried to talk to her, get her to tell me WHY she was so against the organization
[16:09] Laynie Link: and she repeatedly said “read wikipedia”
[16:09] Laynie Link: she said that AS is evil because they force women to have abortions
[16:09] Laynie Link: and that they fund research, which is evil
[16:09] Tenshi Vielle: Genocidal? Can she back that up?
[16:09] Laynie Link: i said, “Umm, research is not evil”
[16:09] Laynie Link: nope
[16:09] Laynie Link: she kept sending me to wikipedia
[16:10] Laynie Link: when i said that, she said, “It is so! Nazis did research, you can’t tell me it’s not evil!”
[16:10] Laynie Link: i kept asking for sources, any sources, she kept sending me to wikipedia

[16:10] Laynie Link: and finally, she said she was going to boycott my shop
[16:10] Laynie Link: i explained that wikipedia isn’t a valid source because anyone can edit pages
[16:10] Laynie Link: and she said no, they can’t

[16:11] Laynie Link: teagan and i have researched our asses off, and all we can find are some conspiracy theory forums

[16:11] Laynie Link: now, i understand that some people are angry, because they feel it’s going to lead to abortions
[16:11] Tenshi Vielle: GE is soooo kind and friendly. They’re a great company, very environmentally and family focused.
[16:12] Laynie Link: that once people can test in the womb, autistic fetuses will be aborted
[16:12] Laynie Link: but that’s not what she was saying
[16:12] Laynie Link: so, the next morning i logged on to find that she’d ripped a copy of my vanessa dress

[16:13] Laynie Link: ARd her
[16:13] Laynie Link: put the dress out for free
[16:13] Laynie Link: and suddenly the world exploded

[16:13] Laynie Link: traffic at our store went from 400 to 5000

[16:14] Laynie Link: donations in the kiosk went from $120 to almost $20,000
[16:14] Laynie Link: i’ve been contacted by autistic people, designers, people all over the world
[16:14] Laynie Link: even people from “Autism Speaks Doesn’t Speak for Me” said that her actions were inexcusable

[16:15] Tenshi Vielle: Wow!

[16:16] Tenshi Vielle: Did LL ever contact you back regarding the AR’s?

[16:16] Laynie Link: big surprise, right?
[16:16] Tenshi Vielle: Not really.
[16:17] Laynie Link: but i feel wonderful… this has been covered in english, spanish, german, japanese
[16:17] Laynie Link: it’s gotten the word out about content theft
[16:17] Tenshi Vielle: We’ve been talking about it recently and it seems LL is just absolutely down and out in regards to things

[16:18] Tenshi Vielle: I tried to email Robin Linden about it recently- 1) she didn’t know what was going on, and 2) after I informed her with links, she hasn’t emailed back

[16:20] Tenshi Vielle: Yeah, I was rather disappointed to say the least.
If it isn’t new players without an ounce of creativity looking to make a quick buck in SL, now stealing a person’s items has become par for the course - a justification, if you will, of a boycott.
Laynie is also participating in a big-time interview tomorrow to bring further awareness to this subject, content theft, and the lack of action by Linden Lab. I will be in attendance, and I will also update SCD with more information after the interview.
***Addition*** Just a little piece of trivia or gossip, what have you. I remembered the name “Lalinda Lovell” for some reason, and went Googling. Turns out she’s the same woman who had a few child/sexual ageplay areas in Fall 2007. Apparently she has Aspergers (a form of Autism) and that makes everything she’s ever done, including the sexual child ageplay areas, just fine and dandy.
