There will be many generic names that many people have independently tried to sign up with, and it was a case of first come first serve as to who got it in
SL. I agree that no one should be able to take a name (well-known or otherwise) to grief or hold to ransom, but I'm not sure that I agree it's fair to stop people reserving a name that they want to use simply because someone else go there first in registering it with
SL.
Also, I'm sure that although openlife is based on
SL tech, they are going to want to be able to move forward fairly independently, and so you couldn't see them keeping the sign up via
SL for very long.
