I've been keeping to myself of late, not wanting to interact with anyone , so here goes

About 10 years ago, our Great Pyrenees had been murdered, and I was looking for another to replace him, and I saw a ad in the paper for a Great Pyrenees, unkown age but believed to be under 2 years old.

Well I took a drive out to this farm to look at the dog, and was taken inside a barn, and back in the corner was a stall filled with chickens, and the Great Pyrenees. I took one look and coundn't believe what I saw, the top of her head, ears and tail were completly hairless, and covered with bloody scabs, the chickens had done this by pecking at her. The rest of her was not much better, as she was literly laying in chicken crap. And the kicker was, the people that had her not only didn't see anything wrong with this, but wanted $75.00 for her.

Well I packed her up in the car, took her home, nursed her back to health and for the last 10 years she was the most wonderful companion anyone could ask for.

Well about 2 months ago, she went lame on one of her front legs. The vet thought it was a sprain, as he could find nothing, but suffice to say she did not get better. Xrays a couple weeks later didn't show anything, so I made a appointment at a animal hospital for a cat scan for the following week.

Well it turned out she had inoperable bone cancer and he said that given how fast it had progressed, she probably only had a month or so before the pain would be to much for her to bear, even with medication.

A week ago Monday, she was put to sleep, our vet came to our house, and I held her as she drifted off. She's resting now under the weeping willow in our back yard.

I know that some my find this trivial, but she truely was my best friend. When I would come home from work, she would hear me pull up, and be looking out the window waiting for me, I still catch myself looking at the window thinking she will be there.

Rest in peace Cassie
