The 100 Block event is open and there’s a lot of great stuff that you can get there. For today’s outfit, I chose a lovely dress by DCNY to show you, and I added this hair with hat, new by Tameless.

The skin is a special edition of Fake’s Sara, available at the SL FAshion Week, and the bag is a hunt prize at Ricielli.

Last but not least, I have sad news for all pose lovers. After four years of great poses, Adorkable is closing. I am sad to see this brand go, as it is one of my favorite pose shops. Until June 9, everything at the store is at least 50% off.

After playing dress-up for, like, hours, I ended up with this outfit for Moniq that reminds me of Baywatch. Blonde hair, tanned skin, pouty lips and an almost-dress. Al she needs is a red swimsuit now :D

First up is Peqe with the super adorable Tinsy Tops and Baggy Pants which you will find at the Kawaii Fair which is going on now!  Available in all standard mesh sizes and five gorgeous colours, you can play mix and match and have a cute summer look every time!

Emo-tions has a great new hair out this week - the elegant and sexy Chevia sweeps over the eyes and up into an elaborate updo with tendrils falling down.  This will look gorgeous at any special event.

There's also a new jewellry set out at Emo-tions this week.  Available in two colours, the Endless Love sets come with necklace, earrings and stunning headpiece.  This is sure to become a favourite and dazzle with any gorgeous gown!

Other bargains are these boots from Loordes of London which are on a two-for-one deal and an outfit from Cysleek (part of which is shown here) for just L$199. Talking of bargains, Ciss’ poses make me smile and this one is no exception – and it’s just L$20 at The Retreat.

View original post on Thornes on Roses » Second Life]]> The other day, I was cruising blogs and found the Goofnutz blog which was showcasing items from the SL Buddy Walk event that is raising awareness and funds for Down Syndrome.  The fair goes from March 16-31st and has some great designers participating with  many great items donating 100% to the cause.  (more after the cut including credits and some rambling)

 

I’ve always loved Amacci skins so was very excited to see she had two different tones offered at the SL Buddy Walk, both with proceeds going to the fundraiser.  I promptly grabbed the Emma Runway in Pale and did a little jig of happiness.  As always, the Amacci skins are beautiful done and looks great on many different kinds of shapes.  Then, I proceeded down the walk way and saw this lovely jogging suit from Immerse, the Gabba Ocean and snatched it right up.  I’m actually pretty particular about what I buy at fundraiser events and really try hard to only buy what is being offered with a percentage (if not the full sale, but that part isn’t the deal breaker) going to the cause.   It’s usually not too hard to accomplish this task but SL Buddy Walk does make it easy since many designers have more then one item out with proceeds going to the cause.  For that, I’m thankful.  I figure if I’m going to shop a fundraiser, should buy to support the cause!

I spent my time sitting alone on my platform (ok, I generally spend time alone on my platform), with no desire to think of a pretty setting or look for a beautiful sim for photos.

We can call this “A day in the life of…” post, in a series that, so far, begins and ends with Moniq. I have my own reality, show, only without cameras :D But to be closer to the truth, I’m having a blogger block, so I’d better call it “One of those days”….

And for today, you get a raw photo of Moniq (I didn’t even remove the grid lines) in a pretty outfit, just sitting on her platform. At least my AO has some pretty seats!

View original post on Thornes on Roses » Second Life]]> Perception has this amazing Pisces necklace at the Zodiac Event, unique and with gold or silver option, it’s a must have for everyone.   I also found White Widow at the event and picked up this lovely face tattoo that I coupled with Beautiful Freaks Girl Poison eye make up.  Beautiful Freak  is the layers under the eyes and White Widow is the layer on the side of the eyes.  Pretty, pretty, pretty!   I’ve also been coveting this gown named Society by Volstead (as well as the rest of the collection) and finally picked it up the other day.   Many different colors to chose from, but I went with Ice as it’s a beautiful shade of blue with gold accents that warmed my cold little heart  (more after the cut so click to read the ramblings)

 

For the pictures, I went over to TrepTower, which is a broken down carnival sim created by none other then the 2304 Rain sim creator, Squonk Levenque.   Again, the imagery created by the scenes placed around the carnival is amazing to behold and worthy of a visit.   Lightening flashes, water flooding out portions of the old carnival and broken down rides are just part of the visit.  Grab the note card on entrance and accept the windlight changes for wonderful experience into the mind of the creator.

 

The shoes are by lassitude & ennui and another item I’ve been coveting for a while so hopped over yesterday to grab them.   The boots are called Timea Ankle Boots and look lovely with the time period (Read more...)

View original post on Through Salamander's eyes]]> The mirror obsession is still haunting me, it seems. This time, I even tried a portrait. Though it’s a lot harder to work with water and I’m spending a lot more time on setting the scene for photos (and I thought that hopping around the grid for good locations was hard!), I’m still passionate about the mirror effect. Maybe one day my photos will even be amazing! (though I’m sure that, by that time, I will be called “the crazy mirror blogger”).

Anyway, there’s more interesting stuff to be told than my photography struggles. A new cycle of FaMESHed starts tomorrow and The Secret Store has a lovely little dress there. It comes in several color and color mixes, so you can surely find one to suit your taste. What I love most about it is the retro feel. (And yes, it’s very short too!)

I chose black because I wanted to wear it with this hair by Tameless, which also has a retro touch. And also a fierce touch, because hey, animal print! I added a pair of pumps by Fanatik that are currently available as group gift and a little bag by Pure Poison. That was the easy part. Five props and a dozen of windlights later, here’s what came out:

And you think that was the hard part? No way, this is just the beginning. I really wanted a mirror close-up. More windlights, more angles, more whatever. Anyway, for my first mirror close-up, I think it’s kinda cool.
