If you aren’t a 20 something and you hearken back to your youth, you’ll remember that back in the day in the Peanuts cartoons, Snoopy was often working on his book. His book always begins “It was a dark and stormy night…”. What you might not know is that there is an entire, long running fiction contest centered around this premise – beginning terrible fiction with the phrase IT WAS A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT.

I actually once purchased a compendium of the Bulwer -Lytton contest entries and laughed for days reading it. It’s one of the seminal phrases in American faux literature, and when I rezzed Barnesworth Anubis new skybox for Collabor88 – my first thought was OMG IT WAS A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT.

With it’s classic European moulding detail, and beautiful windows letting in light and looking out across the rooftops of Paris (Which is different that Under the Roofs of Paris by Henry Miller which is TOTALLY NOT THE SAME AT ALL OMG NO) I have to confess that now I have to move house again.

Barnesworth Anubis has seduced me with yet another skybox. He’s quite seductive, did you ever read his profile? It’s not for the shy, or conservative. He even says quite publicly that he stays crunchy in milk.

If that doesn’t say LOVER AND SEDUCER, I don’t even know what does.

Paris for the summer, then? I don’t mind if I do.

Sock and hose together? I don’t care I do what I want! Bag doesn’t match shoes? I don’t care, I do what I want!

I had Eric Cartman in my mind as I put on my gacha prizes from The Chapter Four, yeah I’m still going on about that. I like taking all the gacha things and then wearing them all together. It’s like a sport to me.

The bag from Attic doesn’t come with bag hold poses scripted into it, but hey it’s gacha so I’m not actually complaining. But it’s important to some people so I mention it. Shoulder bags can be tough to pose around between your boobs and your arm jamming into what you’re wearing and the bag.  It’s easier when their have poses in them designed to work but even then though they don’t always because of shape variations + mesh.

A:S:S (Another Shirt Store) has also been releasing GORGEOUS MESH NAIL APPLIERS for SLINK mesh nails. I’m wearing the black tipped from the BLACK DRAMA set and the name made me LOL.

I wanted new poses that would flatter my mesh nails, and so I made one then two then three and I was like oh I might as well make a set, then I was like oh I might as well release them because other people have mesh nails they might like them.

My pose store has been closed for months, I might reopen. I might reopen casually. I might not. I’m considering all of these things.

I made my poses to work with my SLINK mesh nail enhancements.  Not the full hands mind you, these are just mesh nails. I use the anim version of them. I find that it works better for me when posing. Not all poses work well with mesh nails, but these do. I also tested them with my Leverocci nails and had no issue.

I now have about 100 ideas of other poses to compliment and show off nails, so, yeah, I guess I’m open.

Strawberry Singh in her seemingly infinite curiosity has a new meme asking people to explain why they blog. I figure that is something I have to be able to answer.

How long have you been blogging? Since January 1, 2008.

Why did you start blogging? For all the free stuff, of course. Joking!!! I blogged for months before I ever received a single preview copy from a designer. People who blog know that even with promotional copies, there are all sort of expenses since there is more to an outfit that a piece of clothing. There’s the shoes, the hair, the jewelry, etc. I am sure a few people start blogging with that moment and they are the ones who quit blogging in three months. For me, I love fashion and love styling outfits. I also wanted to challenge myself as photographer. And clearly, I have to be a bit of a show-off to holler “Hey, Look at me! See what I’m wearing” once a day.

How many times a week do you post an entry? I try to post daily. I like to imagine my readers checking once a day and I don’t want to disappoint them by not having new content.

How many different blogs do you read on a regular basis? I read hundreds of blogs. I check the several feeds, but I also have use a reader for blogs that aren’t on feeds. Besides Second Life blogs, I read fashion blogs, news and opinion blogs and online magazine sites.

Do you comment on other people’s blogs? Not as often as I should. I would comment more if CAPCHA died in a fire.

Cajsa rousted me from my sloth by taking me to the Avenue Retail room, where the fashion houses of SL are putting for sale the items they’ve shown on the runways. As the room began to rez, directly in front of me stood a pink dream.

So I had to have it.

Everyone loves different things. My tastes vary greatly but I think my greatest loves are the feminine retro lines some creators bring us with such grace. This dress reminds me of the story about Marilyn’s famous dress she wore to sing for the President. Did you know it was so tight she had to be sewn INTO it?

It was kismet that Donna Flora released amazing jewelry just in time for me to wear them with this dress. I absolutely love these new pieces and the variety of colors make them perfect for other evening wear.

I wasn’t sure about the hair, and decided to try Dura as Cajsa LOVES their short styles. After demo-ing two styles for my 860 best friends on plurk, I turned around and saw THE ONE on the wall in the mens’s section.

This dress from Countdown is an absolute masterpiece. I know Cajsa blogged them before but somehow this amazing creator missed my radar.

I am so glad I’ve found them!

I had just wrapped up my FLF shopping when Sasy insisted I come out and be festive for a while. Her suggestion for festive was to start at Bewbapalooza or however it’s spelled. It’s a sale event (I dunno if discounted) for the wearers of the mesh boobs. It’s also carnival themed and Whimsy played the strong man game and won me a popsicle. YAY POPSICLE.

Anessa Stine joined us and fondled her boobs as we wandered around looking at the items.

It was somewhere about that time, that Sasy said “It’s your REZ DAY!”

OMG. It was my rez day and I didn’t even know it. SL Old Age kicks in.

We popped over to the Men’s Department sale next and while Whimsy oooo’d over kilts (and the lack of underwear beneath I think) I grabbed the free gift from Handverk – a red scale clutch. There is probably some humor in the fact that the gift at the Men’s Department sale is for women. Or, men who carry a red scale murse.

It was a fruitful shopping day as well as being my rez day – the new Windswept bookshelf from Trompe Loeil was exactly what my house needed in the bedroom.

As I wandered around my house last night after running the gauntlet with the girls, it occurred to me. I really like my SL lately.

Perhaps it just took me six years to finally grow up. I’m not sure. But my life is settled, and quiet, and genuinely happy. I never get as much done as I want, or need to, and I miss the people I don’t talk as m (Read more...)

Stopping off in another place to look for letters for the Room 326 hunt as it draws to a close before MadPea Productions opens a new hunt, I saw this fabulous old merry-go-round and had to go for a ride. I was dressed in some of the items from the last two Baiastice releases including this gorgeous handbag released a couple of weeks ago. With a rich alligator hide and classic styling, it’s a wonderful handbag to hold all those letters I am finding (or not finding).

The pants were released by Baiastice yesterday and have a loose, flowing shape that tightens to fit snuggly below the knee. While they are very similar to a harem pant, they do not have the dropped crotch that makes so many contemporary harem pants so unflattering. These are body conscious and the focus continues to be fashion and looking good at the same time. The top is a lovely casual boucle knit sweater, worn with the sleeves scrunched up at the elbows, giving it a relaxed look.

The shoes are from the back of my closet, the fabulous Fame shoes from Lelutka that are a perfect fit for the mood of this outfit. All of the poses I am using are from Status upcoming release of handbag poses called Clutch It.

My hair is from Wasabi Pills, released just in time for faMESHed that just opened at midnight. The jewelry is from Zaara, her gorgeous Atiriya set in lapis lazuli.

My skin is Helena from Tuli whose return to the grid means lots more beautiful skins for us all.

There is something calming about the Blues. I don’t know why, but I’ve always found the mourning of lost loves and songs about sadness to have a mellowing effect.

I grew up in a town with one of the best blues bars you’ll find anywhere, the Slippery Noodle Inn. The Noodle was perfect for both the end and beginning of your night, or for an evening when you just want to listen to good music and hang out with your friends.

Some of my favorite life moments happened at the Slippery Noodle Inn.

I touched Greg Kinnear’s butt there during the Final Four.

I learned the joys of cheese on my french fries, and which flavors of schnapps I prefer (bluesberry obviously).

I learned that your fiance gets upset if you call him for a ride home, and are not at the bar you said you were, if you are in fact at The Noodle making out with another guy. He gets pretty upset, in fact.

I didn’t marry him, so – no big whup.

There is definitely something life changing about an evening filled with dimished sevenths and tales of woe. In the very best possible way.

The trousers are from Redgrave, called liquid mesh, and you don’t get lots of sizes, you get 1 size, and it magically fits, like some sort of sorcery! although in the pack you do get high heels/flats options and extra shiny trousers option.

Anyway, moving on I also want to make a plea for more short hair, choppy kinda sexy short hair, I wore this one from 99 elephants but I would like mesh hair kinda like this too.

Time went by. I got better at taking my own pictures. I found my own style (which is largely silly) and found my own way. But I can tell you, I still find myself ticking off the list of “to do’s” that Cajsa taught me when I learned to take pictures.

I suspect, if one of your close intimate friends was a pose maker, or a dress maker, or a jewelry maker, and one day you ventured out into the land of being a creator yourself, those archetypal memories of “what is good” would be impressed on you and people might draw conclusions of similarities when they saw your work. That doesn’t mean it is the same. Seeming doesn’t make it so.

So when people start speculating about alts and who is who, sometimes my spidey sense goes up and sometimes I have a laugh. Because while creative juices might flow in similar veins, questions of character, kindness and individual personality are not something that is easily masked.

After all, if they were, alts would always be successful – wouldn’t they?

The club where I DJ was in the Destination Guide today and many newbies dropped in. It was fun to see them running about to the right, left and all around. Most of them were too busy rushing to stop and chat but a few did. Most wanted to know if Second Life was addictive. I sure think it is, if they get past the confusion that we all face at first and begin making friends. It’s the people, the friends, that make SL addictive. Two of the people I met my first week in SL are still my two best friends in SL – so I hope they have as wonderful luck as I did.

And I hope they also find the joy of exploration – going to sims to see what can be seen. I went to this Japan Garden sim yesterday – a beautiful place of peace and harmony. It seemed a good choice for showing off this gown from Azul. It’s the design from Mami Jewell of Azul for Miss Virtual World Japan. It comes in 8 gorgeous color options, but I chose this one for the bold cerise and bordeaux combination.

Like most gowns from Azul, it’s a flowing waterfall of color with a train and long flowing sleeves.

This baroque beauty from Donna Flora is a fabulous jewelry option. I also wore the lovely updo from D!va that’s featured at Collabor88 this month.

PXL Creations’ Kate skin has brilliant cyclamen eye shadow and wine lip tattoo layers to give bold color.

It’s true, all that glitters is not gold. Sometimes it is bronze, silver or platinum. And sometimes it is a bit of all at once as in this gorgeous top from Fashionably Dead. The peplum top is available at Collabor88 where the theme this month seems to be proving that glitter comes in every color. I dressed it up with the bottom of the Kamille dress from Countdown. One of the advantages of combining mesh with system layers, as Countdown has, is the ability to mix and match which makes me happy.

Frankly, when something glitters as beautifully as these bronze shoes from Deco, there is no need for gold.

I added some big statement rings from Miao and Donna Flora – that glitter in all sorts of ways. The ring on my right hand has a color-change touch script that lets it glitter an entire rainbow of color.

I also wore the Eva set from GeWunJo proving that even brown glitters. My hair style also came from Collabor88. By D!va, it may not glitter, but it shines. I love its naturalistic wispiness.

My skin is Sophia, the newest skin line from PXL Creations.

It was a busy day at the office yesterday. My To Do list was a mile long and I don’t think it got any shorter by the end of my day. Fortunately, Cajsa has put up a lovely new office at Glookbone so at least if I have to sort through the work part of my SL I have a pretty place to do it.

I would’ve gotten more done, except I kept playing with the light as it came through the windows and having fun moving all the shadows around. Our new office is as much fun as a photos studio, I swear it is.

Of course I get a bit day dreamy and that doesn’t help me get anything done either. Staring off into space is one of my talents though.

I don’t know about these stools, my big butt barely fits on it.

One of my TO DO list items I DID get accomplished was to try on a NEW skin from ADAM N EVE. Skin collectors will want to run over and give them one a demo because as always, it’s a beautiful body and the face is very pretty. She’s got a very well groomed, elegant look to her, I really adore it.

In the middle of the night I found myself wandering a landscape of grey and black. There were no candy apples for sale, despite the sign. OMG – This could mean only one thing – NIGHTMARE.

My love of carnival rides could not incite me to hop on board this macabre merry go round, I’ve never been a fan of being swung by my neck. As I wandered, I knew that I had Cajsa’s post and the book of Stephen King short stories to thank for this stroll of dreams.

No candy apples, ripped hose? A nightmare without question. If only I could make myself wake up I know I’d have a lovely pixel day.

I sat on the beach and watched giant turtles swim and frogs bounce across the landscape.  I  am really glad I decided to spend my weekend here, it’s a great place for a busy pixel girl to relax and enjoy some pretend nature.

As the sun climbed higher I ventured out to the rocks and found this poorly landed plane.  The scenery here is fun and quirky, I admit I am glad I came. I need to make someone come with me next time.

My busy Friday started with going over to our new office at Glookbone to check out the studios and the build. Cajsa picked up one of the more lovely buildings at Scarlet Creative for our new office, it’s got great windows for pics so I couldn’t resist firing one off. Love the lights through the blinds.

After getting my bearings at the new place, I decided to check FLF for the must haves this week. It’s a good week, but my eye was sharply on the new releases from FLOORPLAN – 1 land impact decor pieces that would be PERFECT in a wee Linden home with few prims.
It was SRSS BSNSS when Cajsa and I had a photo shoot with the lovely Elle Kirshner (who BTW has a gorgeous set in FLF today also if you are looking for decor).

I got home in time for my new pieces to be delivered by Floorplan and decided to unpack some of my artwork that I’ve collected to see if anything really wants to be up on my new walls. Some of my pieces from AE Meth wanted to stay as well as some photos from Maht.

Now, what to do with myself for the rest of the weekend?

How better to send out the old year and see in the new than with a fancy new dress, a glass of bubbly, a new do and some words of wisdom?!   The wall hanging is from What Next and is the New Years VIP Gift!  It’s so cute and it also comes in monotone too, if you’re not a colourful soul.   The pose and glass is the VIP Group Gift from STATUS Poses and is very cute!  I couldn’t help but whack on a smile and scream BOTTOMS UP!   My new ‘do is from Alice Project and I am normally not sold on Bangless hair but this was too sweet, with cascading curls, it was definitely going to be on my head.   I also put on the gorgeous new dress from NiNight Creations, more about that below tho.  The necklace is from Yummy and is still available at Collabor88, but only for the next few days, so shake that ass and get on over there!  You can get it in three metals and with matching rings and earrings.

In the close up you can see I am wearing some wonderfully delicious earrings.  They are the HANDverk items for L’accessories and they are just SO GORGEOUS!   I chose the “toothsome” colour range, which is a bit multicoloured and matched ALL of the outfits I threw on, including my gorgeous eye makeup from the lovely Essences Maria Skin, I do look cute if I say so myself!

I love all the cold and bracing winds of this time of year. I was taunted last night by the Weather Channel with promises of snow. There is no snow. I should not be surprised, living in RL in the land of cotton (old times there are not forgotten) but I was hoping for a white dusting at the least.

My protest then was to run off to a snowy place and run around looking fabulous in the sea of white and frost.

I think I’m cold.
Today I’m using my new release pose set INTERVAL for the Countdown themed event at MY ATTIC. The six pose pack is 95L but will be 300L at my shop after the event.

New release eyes from Vision by A:S:S kind of melted my butter when I ran into the Orchid color – they remind me of the delicate falenopsis that I my old friends used to collect.

Mijn Boutiques cat sweater seems made for me – the caretaker and servant of a black and white cat named Oscar.

My mom liked to say that everything you do should be done with love. It is one reason why I am so fond of the With Love Hunt an annual event that asks all of us to act with love. Creators are asked to create with love – making wonderful items that they will offer at a fraction of their worth. Bloggers are asked to blog with love and integrity, without giving away anything more than approved hints. Hunters are asked to hunt with love, without complaints about the nomimal 10 linden price or hard-to-find items. We may not all succeed, but we are asked to try.

This sweater from Mijn was certainly made with love, love for cats, for whimsy, for fun. And it came to my attention with love when a blog reader, knowing my fondness for Oscar, alerted me to this Oscarish cat. And yes, I am blogging it with love, love for my ridiculously entertaining cat and the fey spirit that creates such a fun sweater for me to enjoy and the diligent event coordinator who uses her skills to build community.

ooh, those GField shoes are too cute. I want all the colors.

My mother was a great example of doing everything with love. I recall one time when she got mad and got even, but she did it with love. This year I get to host Christmas dinner and have been menu-planning for over a week and dithering back and forth between the many ideas rolling around in my head. I know exactly what I plan to make for my first course and second course, but the third course is giving me fits. I am serving beef tenderloin, but folks like a starch with their main course, so I am trying to choose between Pommes Anna, Patatas Aioli or Mushroom Risotto. I am planning on roasted vegetables for the other side dish. Anyway, my shopping list grows and luckily I have a gorgeous clutch to carry it and a handy pen around for reminding me of things I need to buy.

I love my outfit today. It starts with the jacket I picked up a Monso. It’s a lovely autumnal plaid with a shearling lining for warmth. It’s an older design from the sculptie era, but I love it anyway. I added a gorgeous brocade skirt from Baiastice that was released in November. Some might say plaids and brocades don’t go together. They are silly. It looks fab. My shoes are brand new, from MiaMai’s newest release.

Here’s a closer look at the handbag which is from Swallow whose accessories beautiful blend modern and Art Nouveau influences. The handbag comes with a color changing hud so I can wear it in several bold colors and change the metal and lion’s head. Notice how lovely SLink’s purse hold mesh hand works. I hadn’t been over to Vero Modero in several months, when Cajsa and I were making the rounds the other night of places we needed to revisit. I nearly flew across the room at the sight of these coats.

They come in jeweled tones but I had to have the Christmas red, and now I want this coat in RL.

I am going to be very toasty and warm in my Second Life this winter, even with winter storms named Draco about. Sounds like a bad villain in a B movie doesn’t it?

Regardless, I’ve got my winter coat. Bring it on.

Somnia released to the group an adorable sweater skirtset for winter called A Knitted Mess that is perfect for casual winter days. Layered to keep you warm, it pairs great with tights or the included leggings, and I added some fun color boots from DUH!

Christmas is on the way! Whether or not you celebrate the holiday, you have to agree that my Reindeer sweater from E! The new FROSTBITE Cottage from Trompe Loeil has been released for Collabor88 and I couldn’t wait to rezz it and see how cozy and wintery it was. I chose the white but there are several color variations and you can opt for frosted windows or not just by touch.

I chose frosted, in RL I live in Atlanta and I miss the wintery cold of the north.

Inside the cottage it’s cozy aged woodwork (of this model) and high ceilings. It also comes with a fireplace. Add the deliciously cozy love seat and club chair, also from Trompe Loeil and you are ready to be cozy on winter evenings.

I’m also taking this opportunity to test out the BETA viewer since the word on the street is that it has solved the dreaded GRIDLINES issue with big pics. It seems to be true, I’m shooting at 4000X2067.

I find it does crazy stuff though, every time I open the camera it snaps a pic, my screen goes fuzzy, mouselook getst stuck on and I can’t get it off. Various other superweird stuff keeps happening but I can’t even remember what they all ARE honestly, thats how many weird things happened.

But – no gridlines? Whatever, it’s a decent work around for the time being! I’ll deal with it.

And now, I’ve got some presents to wrap!

I realized I was almost grey from head to toe and couldn’t resist the fun with the 50 shades reference, but I didn’t actually ever read it so, I’ll probably have to leave it there.

Monochomatics with pops of color, though, are some of my favorite styling choices because it always conveys purpose, rather than “these are the things I slapped on today.”

I missed Fresh Baked Goods, these mah jong tile bracelets are still some of my favorite whimsical jewelry pieces I ever picked up.

Also today on the list of things which are good and therefore I think you should like them is a relatively new release from Adam n Eve – Carolyn.

The skin is beautiful with lovely makeup and as always, the lips and nose are beautifully done. There is definitely something to be said for experience. I do recommend you go grab a demo there are several tones and makeup options.

I was originally going to use this look on my other blog, Living The Cute Life SL, but realized I hadn’t posted here in a few weeks. My adorable paisley boho babydoll dress is by DCNY, and it was released last month but it’s so adorable and comes in a number of colors. My shoes are by Ingenue and are at Collabor88 for only a few more days, so grab them while you still can!

I’m wearing my latest skin purchase, Chloe from The Sugar Garden. It’s so youthful and cutesy, which checks the boxes when it comes to skin for me (majority of the time). You can get it with or without freckles, and I went without because I could always add that on a tattoo layer if I felt like it. They also have appliers for prim/mesh boobies, if you’re into that.

I confess. I’m ready. The events are exploding and there is so much excitement in the air about everything that is new and amazing for the holidays this year.

I love everything about the holidays on the grid, and even on my borrowed square I’m doing a little bit of sprucing up for the happy time.

From the gorgeous elegant jewelry of Donna Flora to the insanely cute vinyl toys from Schadenfreude, there isn’t much I don’t like about this time of year.

There is an amazing advent calendar out from Trompe Loeil at the Arcade Gacha event. It has twelve doors and twelve keys, and you play the gacha for the keys. Each key opens a door, and you get the gift inside. My first gift is a beautiful pair of earrings!

I also thought my little pretend baby needed something new so I stumbled upon Sweet Penelope’s and got this casual holiday outfit for 75L ! SO CUTE!

It’s Christmas! I could not be any happier!

One of the perks of Thanksgiving weekend is the TV marathon that allows you to catch up on old shows and discover new ones. During this weekend, I discovered what may be one of the best TV shows ever – at least for a political junkie like me. It’s called Borgen, or Government, and is a Danish series imagining the career of the first woman prime minister. It’s available on the LinkTV website for two weeks only, so here’s your chance. Both Season One and Season Two are available. I would love to take the fictional prime minister Birgitte Nystrom shopping, though. She only wears black and dark blue power suits with solid color blouses and sensible shoes. I would love to see her in some color and prints. She could carry off this bold, body-con dress from Kunglers,  but would never even try it on.

It’s 2012, women do not have to dress clothing that mimics menswear to be taken seriously. In fact, a bold print like this says the person wearing it has confidence and personal style. She can work hard and succeed without hiding her gender in gabardine.

My accessories are simple, some earrings and bracelets from Maxi Gossamer in orange and purple and a pair of lilac pumps from Baiastice. Anything fussy would distract from the gorgeous cut of the dress and its boy-con shape.

My hair is the sensible and feminine Electra from Lelutka and the make up is subtle. avoiding the bold colors that would be too overwhelming for work.

Pose Appreciation Week is winding down and I hope all the bloggers highlighting the role of poses in their work have succeeded in their goal in highlighting the many good and great posers in Second Life. I could not participate in Pose Appreciation Week without highlighting Status Poses from Gidge. This is a new set from Status that has not even been released yet, though it will be available on Marketplace very soon. One of the reasons I love Status poses is the commitment to story-telling in Gidge’s work. Her poses are narrative poses, conveying mood, activity and drama. Many are snaps in mid-step, in the process of turning. While she does provide some of the standard fashion pose sets, her real passion is for slice-of-life poses. If you want a pose to tell a story, Status is the place to start looking first.

My dress is from Loovus Dzevavor and with the bold print, color-blocking, and the sleeveless shift shape, it channels the style of 1960s Carnaby Street in London. It’s available in several bold prints and colors.

Cherry has just released new earrings and bracelets with bold circles that were just a perfect complement to the print. The hair, from Lelutka, has that bouffant lift that also gives a nod to that era.

My skin is a new release from Amacci. I chose one of the options with the dramatic eye liner to continue the retro look. This skin comes with a shape that highlights its Asiatic features, though I think it works well on my more European shape. (Read more...)

And just like that, it’s time to start thinking of holiday events. It’s officially the Social Season with Thanksgiving week starting in the states. Parties and dances of a more elegant nature will start to pop up on your social calendar so it’s probably time to shop for something formal!

Sascha’s Designs if one of my favorite places for big old formal gown fun, but what I PERSONALLY like most is that while she does include a big old ball gown skirt, most of her formal wear includes at least three skirt options or MORE. So you can choose the look that you prefer for your style. Often I will go for a column dress with a more subtle skirt, but I’m kinda excited about the holiday season, so only a big old skirt would do for me today

I am wearing gorgeous new hair from PLOOM (I LOVE Ploom’s blondes) and skin from BAIASTICE. I LOVE this eye makeup. I forgot it was so gorgeous.

The heavy mahogany canopy bed from Trompe Loeil was a perfect piece for my new skybox, and I was so excited to unpack this new chemise from Baiastice that I thought they really needed to go together.

It’s an easy to slip into chemise dress with a gorgeous patterned side gusset – perfect for going out, dressed up with some jewelry it’s a perfect little dress in whatever color is your black.

I personally chose to stay in and revel in the comforts of having a spot to call my own, no matter how temporary it might be.

All truly girly girls need proper boudoir slippers and these from Lassitude & Ennui remain on my A List until someone bumps them off. They are actually alone in the top spot – I am willing to make a spot next to them on my favorites – so shoe creators – let’s have more boudoir slippers!

The hair is a new release from the ALICE PROJECT for Around the World. You’ll find nine new very constructed styles from Alice, inspired by K Pop group SNSD from South Korea. The HUD is as always, so easy even a Gidge can work it. That’s the Gold Seal – in my world.

I had to smile when I saw the new Hana sweater from Redgrave. It made me think of my mother and the wonderful Scandinavian knit sweaters she would knit for me each year. I had one very similar to this one with the Yule pattern. Mine was knit with silvery gray, white and a dusty rose yarn with several rows of geometric patterns from the neckline and down the yoke with a solid silvery gray from the yoke to the bottom. My sweater was full length though I kind of replicated that with the tank top underneath. I loved my sweaters and always admired my mother’s ability to knit such delicate and intricate patterns. Of course, since it took so long to make them, I was never surprised at Christmas.

Thinking of my mom’s sweater I decided to go for these wine-colored Baiastice trousers. They’re a bolder color than the dusty rose from my sweater, but then I always like to wear that sweater with either dark gray wool pants or a deep wine skirt. While it’s not an exact replica, it does remind me of that sweater and my mother, whose artistry with the humble arts of knitting, quilting and sewing was so profound.

I added the snowflake earrings, necklace and bracelet from EarthStones. The hair is from Dura, a man’s hairstyle that I love. The skin is Laina, a new release from Adam n Eve. I added the eyebrow tattoo that comes with the skin line.
