The thing about the space bunnies of Fluffzoid 8 that isn’t mentioned to the tourists is that their leaders are shapeshifters. One moment a fluffy hoppy thing of bright colours, the next a guardian female of telekinetic powers strong enough to toss trespassers into orbit.
They take their job of guarding their smaller kin seriously: the majority of the bunnies are unable to shapeshift and simply enjoy their curious lives on Fluffzoid 8 sniffing, nuzzling and flopping about to enjoy the suns in the turquoise grass.
What is widely known, however, is that not one single bunny has been taken off-planet in the known galactic history. There are continuous attempts of course, ranging from official zoo and research expeditions to downright pet poaching. They all fail.
Therefore the only way to pet a space bunny is to travel to Fluffzoid 8, follow the safety regulations, bring treats and behave yourself. You never know who is hiding underneath that teal fluff and wiggly nose.

“More loots. That’s what it’s all about, you know, being a Queen. You get to choose first from everything’s that’s raided, stolen, scavenged and generally looted and pillaged all over.”
“See my helmet? From the leader of some fancy wing zooming folks …somewhere. If not a leader, at least an officer. At least it looks like it, yah? Freaking fanciest thing I’ve ever worn, had to have at least ten sticky-handed gobs kicked in the trenches for trying to claim it first, the ingrates.”
“The sword? From some barbarian fellow. Made a lot of noise, was practically naked, completely not poison-dart-proofed. ‘s heavy like seven hells, but it looks impressive!”
“The important thing is to make sure you have fancy boots, tallest helm and a lot of magic on your side. ‘s what they respect: big helmets and shiny footwear. ‘n some blood magic goes a loooong way.”

What brought the curious fauna to the library window of the Nautilus? There was always some sealife in sight, possibly just passing by, possibly trying to figure out what the great metal beast really was.
Did they find the bizarre instruments and objects rare treasures, like the items humans hunt from the bottom of the sea, things that to the sealife are perfectly common and unimportant?
Or were they there to gaze at their captured kin, forever taken from them in their tiny display cells, locked away from the world, all for science?
Or perhaps they were there to say hello, to greet the prisoners and to try and communicate with the strange metal beast, to see if it’d release what it took. Sadly, no matter how well they fluttered and shifted, Nautilus never replied.

“Explore the dark reaches of the universe! Come see the space bunnies of Fluffzoid 8!” That’s what the ad said. Absolutely irresistible. There was an adventure to be had! Space bunnies to see! No one said a thing about waiting in line. At least there were comfy gear chairs.
“Excuse me, sir, I would like to book an adventure trip to Fluffzoid 8. Yes, I’ll pay extra for guaranteed space bunny observation. Yes, I’ll pay extra for the camouflage cloak to get really close to them. Yes, I’ll pay extra for… what life insurance? They’re fluffy bunnies!
Lepus galaxicus pythonae! Why would I… oh alright, if it’s mandatory.”
“Holotickets securely marked on the genetic display, it’s time for an adventure! The trip seems to take place in adorably archaic saucers of beam transport, guess it involves close experiences of the star systems on the way.”
“Now to prepare these elderberries as bait and all will be absolutely perfect!”

The year is 3013, humankind has soared in the innovation of technology and innovation, their steel and concrete homestead have over taken the earth. Crawling slowly at first, then faster and faster, each piece of the green earth gobbled up as their greed for growth over came their common sense.
The old lush forests of my home are gone, foliage and greenery are a privilege only the rich and lucky get to experience. Scattered parks of grass exist but I miss the trees...I miss my home...
It is 3013, Humankind has flourished propagating the skies, and we Elves, well we have not been so lucky. As the forests dwindled so did our numbers, life lines cut off as our connection to the earth disappeared. Slowly one by one we fell, just like the great trees on old earth.
It is 3013, Today is my birthday. I miss my family. My family, like the great trees, exist no more. I am the last in existence, an Elven girl lost in a no-elven world.

Tonight's presentation brings you a third installment featuring A Tattered Page*; a special Curse event that combines the love of books with the joy of SL creation. This round takes place January 7-31.
The Martian Chronicles is a collection of short science fiction stories written by Ray Bradbury in the 1950s. The chapters are broken up into individual tales that weave together over the span of twenty-seven years. It tells the story of the colonization of Mars by humans who are seeking a better life from a war torn and tattered out earth. Upon landing, they are thrilled to find the planet is inhabitable, in fact it is inhabited by people much like themselves. But the explorers come to discover it is not all as it should be in their minds. Just as the Martians present unexpected challenges to the humans explorers; the humans bring unexpected experiences to the Martians.… Read the rest
