I have filled up with snow (and apparently some is on the way where I live), and am literally itching for Spring already. I have a life long dream, to have a house on the sand dunes, filled with blue skies but a little chilly and falling asleep to the breakers on the shore. Alas, I am not quite there yet but this house for some reason seems to bring that feeling to life for me. I can really imagine the dunes, the salty air and sitting in the lounge watching the tide.

This is the smaller version of For Gorgeous that I released end of November (ish). It covers a cute 20 x 20 m so will fit on smaller land. It’s also pared down to be super low prim (only 99). And you can copy the shutters etc to create more as needed. I have featured them on the attic room and one of the large windows.

It’s fully modify and copy and comes with two versions, one with baked shadows and one without.

Time to Cloud Party

Ok so after losing a week as my Mac (NEW Mac) is killing me and went back to Apple I am back online properly and with said new machine. I thought (well silently screamed in my head often) this is ruining my inspiration. But then….

Cloud Party.

Two simple words. I found out about it a few days before it got blogged on New World Notes and as I have a commercial Facebook set up took a look. My old Mac that cannot support Second Life worked perfectly well for Cloud Party. It’s embedded in Facebook or you can use just on a normal browser. And inspiration struck me. The piece of music I am using for this post was on my Spotify as I logged on and it really made me smile.

Mesh Content (so yay for those who have learnt it for SL)
Access to a potential huge market via Facebook
Easy Interface (if you can use an iPhone you can use this)
Marketplace and ability to cash out for creators coming soon
And it was well – pretty neat.

It’s not a replacement for Second Life. It’s a different animal but it has the sparks that Second Life first created for me albeit it with a now more skilled background. For a content creator who has learnt mesh and photoshop etc this is an amazing opportunity. Key is for Cloud Party to now get heir pricing point and commercial model right. A year in….Lego….

I tend to at this time of year, read back on my old stuff, flick through my diary, think about the year and generally look forward to my favourite time of all seasons. It’s also a time when I think about things that have changed and what the new year holds.

However, this year – even better The Guardian have for their year in images mandated they need to be in Lego. Got to say, I love it. You can submit your own via the Flickr group here.

A cup of tea

Something we Brits normally wake up and do daily and continue through the day.

I was interested when I heard Twinings were going to start a new campaign based on taking 10 minutes out of the day focused on the hectic life women lead and how taking out 10 minutes from the day can allow you to reconnect and de-stress. My main interest was piqued as they have hired one of my favourite NY creative companies Psyop to work on the advert. Each scene is a very delicate piece of art which reminds me hugely of a friend Jewell who creates distressed textures in Second Life but also is a real life artist whom combines the same sensitive underlying elements in her work.

Psyop also have created some of my other favourite animated adverts including Coke’s Happiness Factory.

Real World Creative – Getting bent

One of things I have loved about Second Life, is the ability to create anything you want at any time (grid permitting) and come out with a finished product that people actually enjoy and use. It’s why after coming up to nigh on 5 years using it, I continue to log in and tinker with inworld prims or test the new mesh capabilities as the platform evolves for the next few years.

It got me also thinking about the creators outside of Second Life who do similar work but with real world products (and these people I really am in awe of, as put me near a power drill or a saw and all hell is likely to break loose). I was trawling my design blogs this week and found that one of my favourites Bent Objects is looking for somebody with experience with computer animation and apps to team up with them on their products.

Knockoffs – Flattery or Theft?

I have always loved Apartment Therapy and used it as a great resource for furnishing my own loft combined with some serious Etsy finds (my favourite being a small leather portable wet bar!). For any of you New Yorkers, tomorrow they are hosting an event on the above topic.
