Astrid and the Anglerfish

It sounds almost like a story, titled like that. It could easily be one, too. If you manage to have a pet anglerfish, especially one that magically survives out of water, there’s bound to be a story behind the sharp teeth.

There’s something absolutely enchanting in stories, pictures and views that present to us normality with just one thing out of place. Just one surreal detail breaking the surface, pulling us into a story, into a different setting, thought pattern, mindscape.

Somehow the reality surrounding the one strange thing makes the thing even stranger. If you find a piece of magic in what should be an ordinary day, it stands out against all the dull normalcy even brighter. Makes us look at everything more carefully, more in detail. Makes us think. Makes us see.

Perhaps makes us even realize that if you learn how to look, there is magic in our ordinary lives. You just have to remember to attune to it to be able to see it.

Black and White

Sometimes they are both red. Every story has at least two sides to it and often one is painted black, the other white. Fairytales do this, many books and movies do this, presenting the side that the main character is not on in simplistic unlikeable hues. One can always recognize a more realistic story from having more than two sides, none of them truly evil or good, but with more developed agendas of their own.

Despite all this we all enjoy a story with clear cut division. We were raised on fairytales, with heroes and villains, with arch-enemies worth an epic struggle. There are many such pairings in fantasy, but one of the more popular ones in recent years has been vampires and werewolves. Both traditionally evil, simply different viewpoints to their supernatural existences. Vampires tend to at least pretend to be urban, civilized, cultured and decadent. Werewolves are seen to represent nature, uncontrolled passions, rage and brutality. Maybe that is why they have been so popular lately: a step away from black and white, both dancing in their own shades of grey, always ready to be covered in red.

Busy Mode

Sometimes life resembles juggling more than anything else. Keep everything in motion, one part at a time, one movement after another. Don’t think, don’t analyse just keep going. Catch the umbrellas before the wind pulls them away. Or the privateering bunnies hijack them as an impromptu airship flotilla.

There’s a rhythm to juggling — or keeping all your thoughts balanced and somewhat grounded — if you let one escape you’ll be spending all your time chasing it and when you get back to the others, they’ve floated away as well. Don’t lose focus, stick to the rhythm, don’t let anything distract you.

If everything else fails: prioritize and have a cup of coffee, then start all over. The coffee will help.

Just one glance

Was basically what it took to fall in love with this release from Glance for Skin Fair 2013, and i´m not even a skin buff to be honest, i tend to find one that i like and stick to it, I´m not even very good at showing of skins, but this was another of my Skin Fair purchases, and i was incredibly happy to find such a beautiful skin.

As you all know good well done darker tonned skins i really hard to find, but Glanced did it and i can now add some variety to my skin folder. here i´m wearing a pale Empress shirt and the pic does not make it justice, it has a gorgeous long back that forks and is a new release, I just did this picture quickly last week whilst i was pinning down Skin Fair for you guys, (can´t you tell by the way i´m wearing my usual red brows over my skin? sorry only realized it the next day after i had taken the pic) so it was a bit of just trow stuff on to show of my new skin kinda of pic.

Also new is the jewelry from Maxi Gossamer that is a this month´s edition of FaMESHed.

There are days when no amount of polite diplomacy will do. Rainha is experienced enough to know that any good queen needs both armour and a weapon sometimes.

She did not get where she is by laying about in beds waiting for a random prince to come over to kiss her or losing her slippers. She might appreciate partnership and company, but no one needs to save her: she already saved herself.

There’s no laws about warrior queens having to look manly: Rainha certainly doesn’t. Impeccable outer appearance has always been an important part of leadership, after all. Don’t believe the vile rumours coming from her fortress lair, all lies and slander! Just because she likes huge updos and the colour red doesn’t mean she’d be a villain. Stereotypical propaganda!

Rainha is a combination of armour and leather dress and it’s a new release by The Muses. The dress and the cape are rigged, the armour is made out of garment layers and the rest of the attachments are non-rigged for re-sizing.

Curiata Curliques

There’s something irresistibly alluring in masks: temptation of the unknown, promise of adventure, theatrical illusion, the base premise of being something or someone else than you are.

Perhaps it’s that combination of unknown and adventure that also makes them so sensual. Especially when so intricate and covered in decadent curliques as this Curiata mask by Illusions. The equally sensual lingerie set by SAKIDE can be found in Perfect Wardrobe until February 9th.

There had to be gold in the look: rich, luxurious hues of it. Like in these Bali earrings by Bilo, for example. Or in the Timea ankle boots by lassitude & ennui, both new releases. Something about the way the closures of the shoes twisted made them a natural companion for the mask.

As for the furniture, going for the Marquis set by ~Libertine~ was an obvious choice. If you’re going to be draped in decadent curliques, might as well lounge in an area to match the mood.

Words are all i have

Again i say like so many times before that i´m not much of a shoe person, be it RL or SL i simply don´t get most women and quite a few men´s fascination about footwear, i usually go for comfy in RL and barefooted whenever possible, so when new feet come out i usually do check those.

A few days ago Gos decided to divide the shop in a way that would allow better branding and market segmentation, so Gos Boutique was born, not only catering just for women, but releasing over this weekend quite a few new models of shoes, and two bare feet versions in mesh (i´m wearing the flat version here) and a new revolutionary tinting system, well every woman just sighs and sometimes cringes when tinting is mentioned , i know i´ve spent quite a few hours messing with huds to get a reasonable match, i don´t even require a perfect match, just reasonable, and if you´re blogging it becomes tiring with every skin change, and trust me i do a lot of those, means a few more wasted minutes on feet tinting, time i could be using to enjoy SL.

And what´s so different from the these feet you may ask? Well to start the tinting database Gos offers already includes more than half of the grids skin makers, even better you can add online the suggestion for more skin creators to add to the database. My regular Mynerva wasn´t available, but a simple manual match was pretty fast to do, with pretty good results, and to know i won´t have to stress over about the other 80% skins in my inventory, makes these godsend t (Read more...)

As Winter Falls

It’s time for wool and hats and mittens that I am completely lacking in the pictures. The title comes from a combination of this Winter sweater dress by Geometry and the jewelry set it was inspired by: As Darkness Falls by House of Rain. The sweater dress is available in Gothmas by Gaslight and it is one whole item with the skirt to make sure it moves well together.

The fringe boots are a new release by SAKIDE. They come in several colours full of quirky winterness. The Lumi-hair by Wasabi Pills is available in the current FaMESHed round. With that name I would have bought it no matter how it looked, but it’s adorable with the texture change winter hat. Lumi means snow in Finnish, in case you were wondering.

All I need is some hot coffee now… and those mittens.

The Sense of Story

There’s something within us that feels the need to perceive beginnings and endings: we divide our lives into series of events, try to pinpoint when they began and why, name when they ended and how. It appeals to our sense of story, I guess. We see lives as stories, whether they are ours or others. Thus the beginning of a new year tends to feel like opening the first page of a new storybook, full of possibilities and potential. We take a moment to look back to evaluate and even judge how the previous storybook worked out: did it go as we planned, did it bring us joy and satisfaction, did it make us cry, was it full of tedium and unnecessary details, what could be done to make it better? That is where and when the resolutions arrive: this year, this story will be better. No more same mistakes, less dull repetition, more laughter, more love, more meaning, more moments to cherish and remember. Then we blink and suddenly it’s year later and the time to turn the last page again. No matter whether we manage to keep our resolutions, no matter what the story will become, today is the day to feel hope and celebrate the story still continuing. We are all writing our own sequels: let’s make them good ones!

Rose in the Snow

This is a post to simply wish everyone wonderful holidays, no matter which one you celebrate and what you call it. Or wonderful ordinary day of December if you do not celebrate any. In Finland we call Christmas joulu, from Swedish jul, just like yule. The same word is used no matter what your beliefs are, the word itself implies absolutely nothing about whether you just like ham and presents or feel more spiritual about the day. I like the idea of wishing that people are happy and leaving the rest of it to themselves.

When you look at history it’s clear that the human mind -needs- a midwinter holiday. Whether it’s to reassure ourselves about sun’s return in some way or simply needing a break from the dark and the cold, there it is: celebration in the middle of the darkness. When you exist with just a few hours of daylight per day, you need a marker telling you that soon, soon, it’ll all turn around, the peak is reached, the journey back toward summer and sun begins. It’ll be alright.

I’ll stop myself before I’ll ramble too much. Feel free to blame wine for all of this and be grateful I decided I wouldn’t blog anything that needs tinting while tipsy. Hauskaa joulua, everyone! It’ll be alright.

52 Colours: Amazon

Two years of colours comes to a close with Amazon which despite its name works well as a festive tone. I want to thank Luna Jubilee for running the colour challenge for so long, that’s over 100 posts from all of us just for this. Admittedly, I did ram the fifteen first colours in one post since I joined the challenge a tad late the first year, but still. So much squinting, swatch tone comparing, brainstorming, look and concept pondering… it gave rhythm to my blogging, these weekly colours. It was an important part in my becoming consistent blogger, posting at least a few times a week since I always felt there should be minimum one post between the colours. Thank you, Luna, thank you all the other colour bloggers, have a wonderfully colourful next year, even without any official challenge!

Ornament dress by SAKIDE is slinky, short and with a cut for cleavage. What else could you possibly ask from a holiday dress? It’s available in the Frost Winter Fashion Fair until January 2nd. The cleavage cut is perfect for eyecatching pendants, such as this Luminos necklace by Snow Bound.The hairstyle is one of Alice Project’s advent calendar gifts — they are scriptless especially festively striped versions of her normal styles. Both poses are from HopScotch’s advent calendar, as well as the snowball that goes with the pose. The lipstick is from the huge packet of various holiday reds Mockie sent to her group.

The hopeful chest by Snow Bound and the sad little christmas tree by *Perception* are available in Gothmas by Gaslight. As for the D-LAB penguin… he just wandered over to have a cup of coffee. On such a snowy day, who could blame him?

52 Colours: Madder Lake Deep

The name of the colour piqued my interest so I did some poking around the net to find out that madder is a plant whose roots have been used to produce red dye for millennia and lake in this context does not refer to water, but is derived from lac. We’re speaking of the bright, strong red in the old masterworks. If it weren’t December, I might have gone to that direction, but since it is I admit I took the easy route and interpreted it as ‘santa red’. Shame on me. The hair by D!va, skin by Izzie’s and the house by Trompe Loeil can all be found in the current Collabor88. A lot of the decor is my old favourites of the season, but the noms and champagne by Poche in the foreground are available in RMK Gothic Frost Fair. The Ashraya dress by Geometry was just the right red and with all the gold it turned the whole look into a decoration, just need to find a big enough tree. I liked how the skin looks both fresh and blushed, either straight out of snow or perhaps after a tad too much mulled wine. I added a makeover by M.O.C.K. Cosmetics to take the skin even more to a holiday-at-home direction and crowned it with the As Darkness Falls necklace by House of Rain.

Twice the Libertine

I have wanted to make this post since Volstead released the Libertine lingerie. I knew the vintage lace would match perfectly with the decadence of the Marquis furniture set by ~Libertine~ and the name match was just too entertaining to pass up.

The lingerie consists of system layer garments for panties and top and an additional sheer lace mesh top to give it a more realistic shape. If you’re feeling daring, try leaving the glitch layer out. The matching Charleston slippers are also by Volstead.

All of the furniture and decor are from the Marquis set, most of the pieces also sold separately. The furniture has mature (cuddles) and adult versions with even a completely safe lounger if you just want to pose with red velvet and golden curves.

Be careful of all the drinks though, you never know what might happen if you indulge too much. All of it is called Libertine for a reason.

52 Colours: Tangelo

I did not even know this is an actual fruit, thought it was just a mesh-up name for the colour, but apparently it is! I had to do something silly for Miss Tangelo, so somehow that translated into an anything-but-realistic sailor costume. With a cutesy hat. The First and Last and Always necklace by House of Rain is available in the gachas at Unhinged Festival. It was just the right amount of sweet to go with the look. The Reema hairstyle is by Alice Project, who keeps saving my colours with the HUDs that allow exactly that: colour change. The sailor costume is by *BOOM* and if you are new to this outfit, be warned: the skirt is really really short from the back. Really. As for the surroundings, I wanted both a hint of orchards and sea, so I went to visit Selidor. Plenty of both there for silly sailors to pose with.

This place feels empty

I did these pics at least more then a week ago but only now did i get ready to blog them, i was planning finally a COLLABOR88 post, and also a big thank you to a few more creators who had just joined Unhinged, and who´s new releases at shops or just stuff i had away for future blogging fitted this post.

So today from the current COLLABOR8 i bring you the hair from LaViere, i´m in love with this hair colour atm slightly pinkier then my usual Wasabi Pills gingerbread tone, these fun dual coloured pants from BOOM, from an old edition i´m wearing the LaGyo earings, which i had waiting on inventory for some time now, and not from COLLABOR88 but from FaMESHed i have this Maxi Gossamer creation with plenty of colour options as usual all menu driven.

I was so happy when Damien Fate celebrating his birthday released for free this adorable friendship bear ( i simply ran to his shop and grabbed one then sent a copy to all of those on my friend list since they are copy and trans) perfect to had a lighter touch to the clearly emotional loaded Heart broken poses, a new release from Exposeur, one of the shops participating in Unhinged.

Painting the Planes of Sanity

No, it does not make any sense. Very little of this post does, after all. Extremely Unhinged. The gacha festival has started out well and although we’ve gradually ceased dancing about and partying around the clock, there’s plenty of new parties planned for this week! Check the schedule out from here.

The palette and the brush are a part of HANDverk’s releases for November’s FaMESHed. The matching necklaces can be found in the current L’Accessoires. They’re perfect for any artist, sane or less so.

There’s the plane I was referring to! That and the other tiny flying vehicles are for the little skulprit avatars, available in Unhinged Festival. You can locate the bear, easel, plants-in-pants and most of the look from there as well.

Yes, those are tiny skulls hanging from the lashes. Naturally. The lashes, makeup, skin, two of the poses, outfit and the hat are all available in Unhinged. The hair by Alice Project is from Around the World, though. Needed a sleek hat hair for the top thing, after all.

52 Colours: Barley Corn

With a name like that, I had to find some fields for Miss Barley Corn to wander through. Quite far from any actual farmer, she’s more of a high class girl visiting summer mansion and play-pretending farm things. With cookies. Probably tiny star shaped sammiches and strawberries, too.

It’s all about the hat, as usual. This sun hat by G Field has been my favourite for a long time and you can probably find it in several blog posts in various colours. Long live colour change scripts!

The innocent radiance is a combination of Glam Affair skin and makeup by M.O.C.K. Cosmetics with another of my old favourites: summer wheat eyes by Poetic Colors.

The Bon Bon dress by Sn@tch formed the whole spirit of playful sophistication and conveniently matched the colour sample. The Steph hairstyle by Alice Project combines sweetness with relaxation, not a care in the world and all the time to flitter about smiling.

I hate when an event ends, I´m left with that sad feeling that there wasn´t enough time to do all the things, not just cause my blogging has been a tad erratic lately , but because i didn´t get to shop or blog all the things, like with these gorgeous Gos boots, or the fri.day hat both from Cinema, i knew when i first saw them i wanted a Indiana Jones inspired blog, but it took me ages to find all the other pieces, and the whole post was only actually ready when Adorkable released this Floored named set of ground sitting poses.

Part of me is sad it took me so long to actually be prepared and happy enough with it to actually publish it, the other proud says, you know girl, don´t do it unless you are really sure and comfortable with it, and i feel that i am, luckily for us all is never a wasted blog post, because most shops will either make their event items available at shops some time after it ends, and truly love that, sometime you just can´t make it to that event and catching it later, or a different version of it for me is always a plus.

And speaking of events remember we have Unhinged coming up on the 15th i already wrote about it the other day, and you can find all the extra info here, or just bug me for it.

Something else that happened this week got me pretty excited i got picked for Second Life Pic of the day on Monday so i´ve been snickering and proud all week (kidding i´ve been mostly surprised and blushing).

The Appeal of Red Rum

I blame these Appeal boots by SAKIDE for the rest of this. I tend to like mine with heels, so the huge platform stompers that double as murder weapons required excessive attitude to go with them. Attitude and a world seen through red haze.

There had to be horns, obviously. Slightly monstrous horns by lassitude & ennui, to be precise. The haze makeup by Zibska — half-mask, half-shadows — brings out the red eyes just right. The Evion earrings look almost like a handy collection of needles worn for quick access.

The top and pants are from an earlier round of Sn@tch‘s lucky boards, Ivy keeps them well stocked and you can always fish up the latest outfit from the pool while waiting for your letter.

As for the sim, it’s always intriguing S.I.C., perfect for both slightly grungy urban or less shiny futuristic shots, depending where you go and how you pick your lights. In this case fitting for a search of a drink, what else?

This Is Halloween

I was just listening to it and since the official wonderful excuse to blame all the costumes on it is soon gone, I wanted to use it. I also wanted to make Halloween looks that are less costumeish and more approaching fashion. For this purpose I went to Zibska, because Zib’s creations always dance within the borders of couture and eccentric, perfect to either style up to avant garde or in this case: turn to Halloween.

Aliwera has a mesh skirt and extreme middle and head attachments, curving in gothic spikes that you could style for a spider queen, but I went more into basic classic noir glamour with it.

Ariane turned into a bone dancer, but it could be styled into a period dress or kawaii lolita look effortlessly. I simply could not resist Nuuna’s skeleton skin, so perfect for Halloween. If you leave the dress away, you have a PG skeleton skin to run around in.

Felicienne turned into a fashionable jester. Add an axe for Halloween parties and you’re set! The best part about shopping fashion for costumes is that you have outfits you can use all around the year, it’s simply a matter of how you style them.

The Good, The Bad and The Lucky

There’s something about contrasts, opposites that makes both clearer. By defining what something is not is also defining what one is. For example, when you define something as ethereal, peaceful and slightly detached while still good, you might end up with this moonlit creature.

If you move to the opposite direction, you can find physical, intense and fully alive while possibly more bad. That seems to be the division between the two in classic fantasy: good is often more emotionally detached while bad is driven by their passions.

I personally favor the storytelling that turns this around and teaches the luminous beings how to breathe and how to feel, even if it would come with a price. On a less serious note: the dark side does have all the cookies. I’m not sure what Arachnos here puts in her cookies, but I’m quite convinced she has them.

The skin, loincloth, spider legs, eyes and the extra eyes on forehead and cleavage are all a part of the current fortune teller prize in Fallen Gods Inc. The teller will be joining hands until November 3rd, but the skins will be for sale later. The lighter counterpart, Anima, is one of his latest creations as well. Anima’s jewelry is by Tekeli-li, who is also having a Halloween sale at the moment. Hairs are by Alice Project, the colour change HUD with control over select parts of hair was perfect for contrasting. The web collar on Arachnos is by Scrub, from the latest round of Horror Haute.

Unhinged

You all know i love events, i love having all of my favourite designers in one place, like a huge Fair or Carnival, i even love more themed events, i even like more events with a common cause or purpose, be it just thru their theme, or for a specifc thing, like charity.

But i like event better when i can help out my friends, or simply work with them, I´ve known Eku Zhong of Culprit for a few years, we met thru SLU and since the day i added her to my friends list my life got a little richer, mostly richer with laughs and wise advise, because she is the kind of person who will make you smile no matter how shitty your day is, and now i have a chance to help out a little in making Eku smile, Nephilaine Portagonist explains the whole situation here better than i ever could on this post: A love letter for Eku <3 but basically and in summary Eku needs to have surgery to the skull that protects that amazing little and quick brain of hers, and this is when friends gather to help and try to make the whole situation affordable for Eku and her partner Yure.

Most of us had no idea of how serious the situation even was to be honest, her humour and joy for life never let it show all the hardships she has to go thru on a daily basis, but now we know and Unhinged is born and it´s a month lasting event with a skull theme/inspiration, starting on November 15th through December 15th, and it´s a gatcha Fair with a lot of pretty awesome stores participating.

52 Colours: Cosmic

For once I did not go straight to scifi even though the name of the colour practically demanded it. Guess Miss Cosmic is an aspiring starlet artist name instead!

The hair was in one of the past 50L Fridays by Wasabi Pills, but you can still get it in their normal colour selections for normal price, of course. The dress is actually the Liaison-chemise by Volstead, available in Cinema that just opened today. Sheer mesh is a wonderful thing, providing allure to less slinky shapes.

The Charleston slippers are also by Volstead, but the Dauphine socks are by Sn@tch. As is obvious by the purple hair, I was not even trying to make a historically accurate look, more like the new coming of the twenties far in the future.

The surroundings are one of the dream scenes by Garden of Dreams, this one called The Piano Bar. The perfect place for scandalously dressed starlets for career-starting! When you go to Cinema, you can find Volstead here. It’s also good to remember to prune down your scripts before going: easier for everyone shopping, yourself included.

Mint Chocolate

There isn’t actually any chocolate — mint or otherwise — in this post, the colour combination just reminded me of it so much that I got cravings for some. The look itself is all about autumn when you do already want to wear more for the cold and rain, but don’t have to wrap yourself up in heavy coats just yet.

The pictures are taken in SLOW sim where you can also find NODe+ shop that sells these umbrellas. They have arm poses as usual, open and close and even come with rain, of which there was plenty in the sim. I tried to catch some drier moments for pictures, so ignore the fact that she’s prancing about with an umbrella without a drop of rain on the water.

There’s several new releases here: Muriel boots by Dare Designs, Softpaw Glasses by ::: Krystal :::, Tiffany hair by Alice Project, new group gift earrings by Maxi Gossamer and the latest fishing outfit by Sn@tch. The fishing outfit comes with stockings, shoes and earrings, but I wanted warmer tights and boots for this look. The hair comes with Alice’s trademark colour change HUD of countless fantastic choices and is available in Collabor88.

As for the minty skin, it’s one of the Glam Affair gacha ones from The Arcade. Remember that it’s ending soon, so if you don’t yet have everything you want it’s time to go play!

It´s getting colder

It sure is here and i´m in a mood for sweaters, and totally in love with this one by Erratic (not sure if the name is perfectly right i´ve seen it spelled different ways, but you can follow either the event or store slurl on my credits) available at this month´s FaMESHed in a bunch of colours and patterns. Also from FaMESHed is this super cute short hair from [ monso ] which made me go must buy, since i´m such a fan of short hairs, which we don´t see enough. Not only are they cute, but also practical, and perfect to show of earings, which i didn´t do here because i was going for a simpler look.

And for that i went back to my usual everyday skin which i have missed a lot, with some extra freckles this time, i´m a huge Mynerva fan and Mock´s freckles are just the perfect amount for me on this skin. And one of my favourite boots to finish of the outfit, I´ve had these for over a year now, and every now and then i wear them, i simply adore this TonkTastic model because i had ones just like these as a teen and wore them all the time to school.

But enough with my old time favourites, i also have some new stuff to show of, and those are the new capris release from Bilo, in perfect colours for winter and Fall, either with or without some wool stockings, boots sneakers or even heels for a more sophisticated look, (actually i do have a set just like these, Winter/Fall Capris with earthy tones and a simple pattern that will easily mix and match with anything.

Collaborate

As i said on my last blog post i´ve been away and now on return i find myself spinning on all the new and regular events, regular like Zodiac which i blogged over the weekend and you can find at the official Hottie Cooterati Experience blog here, and new because Cinema is almost here and i will start soon showing you guys some previews, while we anxiously await the doors opening.

In the meanwhile another regular event just opened it´s doors yesterday, and as usual and from what i have seen at Seraphim and the multiple plurks by the creators, a lot of new and discounted goodies like every month, with a mix of dashing bright colours and quite unique items, sadly i´ve yet to get to the event, and i doubt i will be able in the next couple of days, with all the traffic, but i already have a pretty long mental shopping list.

So today i bring you some of last months items that should be available at the shops own stores, and i also bring you guys new shoes, or better new boots, these from one of my favourite brands, lassitude & ennui, that where specially made for this last edition of L’accessoires, that ended sadly yesterday but should be available at the shop soon.

Suddenly Warmer

Stand up and shout! That’s the name of the pose set with the mic props by BENT. It was made for Limited Bazaar, where a limited amount of items are for sale at discount prices. When the event is over, the items will still be sold in the respective main stores, but at full prices, so if you want some attitude in your SLife, go see if there’s any of these left!

The horns (that to me look like wicked bunny ears, of course) are by lassitude & ennui and they’re available in the Starlust Monster Beach Party for the whole of October. Go browse, shop and have fun: just be careful of any encounters of tentacular nature!

The eye makeup is a mix of two, both by Beautiful Freak. The long side squiggles can be found in a gacha at Monster Gacha Festival, which also lasts the whole month. I added their Poison liner to it for extra attitude. Lipstick is by M.O.C.K. Cosmetics and the Opera choker is one of my favourites from Donna Flora.

The surprisingly cutesy pleated mesh mini skirt is by Nomine, matching the Phoebe boots by lassitude & ennui. The boots are currently available only in L’accessoires. I set my demonic little star to the stage she deserves: the Hell Throne by Garden of Dreams.

52 Colours: Amaranth

Amaranth meant two things to me: 1) a Nightwish song 2) diablerie, the act of drinking all the vitae (blood) of another vampire and consuming their undead soul in the World of Darkness games. Apparently in some of them the victim-to-be was sent the amaranth-flower a week before the crime. Obviously the flower is where the name of the colour comes from, but like I could resist the temptation to make a vampire gone bad… even more bad than default, that is.

Just one picture, because as much as I liked the story behind the character, I really didn’t have much anything near the colour of dull red with pink tone and you know me and pinks… I’m not shopping for these. Fortunately the base of this hair by esk-imo had the right tone, complete with pink highlights.

Goodbye and good luck

Well this month marked the end of The ZombiePopcorn, since 2009 they have done hunts and events some bi-weekly, some anualy all pretty much amazing, and had the wonderful chance to blog with them latelly for the last few months, but is good to see people going for new things in RL, which is what happened in this case, so this blog post is a goodbye and good luck to all of those involved in this amazing project, and a way to show of all the posts i had the pleasure of doing in their website.

52 Colours: Hot Cinnamon

Miss Hot Cinnamon was saved by Nuuna’s crayon skins, that pack just keeps on giving! The orange tone had some shades matching the spicy colour perfectly. The rest of the look turned into something that could be an alien, but to my Guild Wars 2 addled mind she’s an obvious evil sylvari from the Nightmare Court!

I’d also like to point out the collar fit for wicked sorceresses, evil queens and generally women of power and taste of high couture. It’s called Varushka and it’s one of Zibska‘s latest releases. The Zulu eyeliner is also one of her new makeups. While you’re there shopping the new shinies, feel free to get this ridiculously awesome crown of hair that simply screams of royal attitude.

I planted my colourful Nightmare Courtier into the Jungle Club by Garden of Dreams. The club is 378 prims, 50×50 size and has cuddles, single sits and dances, animations for DJ and poles of light shining up from pools of water for twirly purposes~

Darkness is coming

Slowly falling over us all as the A new Twisted Hunt arrives, starting tomorrow, also starting tomorrow is another hunt, The Summer Harvest Hunt, which i will bring you guys soon over at the The Ego Co. blog.

But let´s start with The Twisted Hunt, one of my favourites, always with a dark theme, always with an amazing list of creators, some more well known others sorta of new, here i bring you guys a small preview from it, this gorgeous mesh necklace by House of Rain, that you might remember from The Goth Fair, and occasional blogs, i love mesh jewelry, and i love the detail it brings, also i like it even more when it´s copy and mod, the best thing for any mesh jewelry, that ended all scaling problems of small prims, allowing you to resize it and fit it to perfection when unrigged, like this beautiful necklace, that shows, a barren tree under a jeweled moon.

I missed doing a more dark look, and for this one, i picked a random skin from Glam Affair, an older one from a long lost Dressing Room, and added something new to the look, one of Nomine´s first mesh releases, in this lovely Shapirre tone, perfect for the mood of another gorgeous Garden of Dreams scene.

The dress has two versions, one of them short and another long, with cut out sides and perfect to show of your back.

52 Colours: Feldgrau

Feldgrau, field grey, is usually associated with military uniforms. It’s very dull green, almost grey as the name states and I had trouble finding it in my inventory, especially since I wanted to keep some sort of nod toward military. …yes, it’s a corset. I said a nod, not actual accuracy of any sort!

I tinted the blonde parts of this bob by LaViere to feldgrau, just to have more of the colour in the picture than just some parts of the SAKIDE mesh corset. It was a part of a hunt prize a while ago and I don’t actually know if they have it for sale or not, but it was perfect for this. Speaking of perfect, the surroundings are Kaaos Das Boot U-Boat, which was also a hunt prize from MadPea at some point, I believe.

When I was going through my makeup folder, I wanted to go for that night-time look, even if Eddie Izzard calls it a bit of a slapdash. Combining three different tattoo layers did the trick, I think our U-boat captain looks perfectly believable. In an anime film, mayhaps.

I rarely wear golden, i also rarely play so much with shadows, but this scenery box from Winx just made the outfit come together, i also rarely do more fashion looking shots, because to be honest i´m not very good at them, but it seemed natural, and i believe in doing different things and practicing your weak spots, and mostly learning.

So today i burn, in tones of Golden and red, thanks to my visit to My Attic, and a touch from all the other ongoing events that populate SL bringing us plenty of goodies, and i will focus a bit more on My Attic today, as a blogger having the right background for pictures is sometimes everything and i love these little boxes from Winx, that seemed to fit the sort of 70´s ish look i was aiming at and fit with the event theme, which is Shaken not Sitrred if i´m not mistaken.

I do hope i got the Bond look right, thanks to the also from My Attic new hair from Ploom and Miseria poses i used here, a new store for me but looking promising, so far so hopefully i will have some new stuff from them to show you guys.

Safe from the storm

At the start of this week we had a hurricane warning, that has passed us by and quickly turned into a tropical storm, even so the weather has been humid and a hat, a lot more tropical than it´s usual for this time of year, so due to that i´ve been longing for drier weather and a cool breeze, and that was what i got for today´s pictures.

So today i bring you an awesome new release from Bilo, this long flowy mesh Abaya, released just in time for Eid, and i can´t wit for when they release the soon to come mesh hijab, perfect for this time of year, and also perfect, for this desert scene from Garden of Dreams.

This scene could not be more detailed, all furniture comes with sits and is ready to use the sclupts are simply amazing, the sandstorm particles add to the immersion perfectly, making me feel safe in this not really that small tent, from the stormy winds, the only thing i usually do with scenes is remove, the outer box to show a bit of sky and have shadows, anything else was untouched.

I also had this Pink Fuel skin, unblogged that i bought a culture shock and seemed perfect for this setting, notice again the new group gift from M.O.C.K., that i haven´t taken of all week.

For now i must take shelter, and come back to you all later with more goodies and events. Stay safe from the winds.

A room with some view

Today i bring you guys not a view but a little safe corner, for colourful girly things, trunks for clothes and hat boxes from Culprit a gorgeous print, showing some leg from Cracked Mirror, shoes that string into a delicate silky bow from lassitude & ennui. Colourful walls and big windows by Zigana, a new Wasabi Pills classic hair, delicate and detailed jewelry, but all feels is casual in this place thanks to Exposeur.

These are the lazy days of summer where Vintage Fair takes up most of my mind, be it the pretty cute small trinkets and trunks from Culprit, or the cute gogo dress by Cracked Mirror, as usual love bangs and a haircut that allows me to show of jewelry.

I also finally received the My Second Box samples for this month, and in it came these super cute and relaxed Exposeur poses, along with a couple pose, i didn´t get to see much of this past week Fifty Linden Friday tho, but i did get these LaGyo earings and wow the reflections on them are amazing.

Last but not least these gorgeous new sandals from lassitude & ennui for L´accessoires a brand new event that started it´s first edition this month, and so far loads of goodies in terms or shoes, hats and jewelry.

52 Colours: Russet

Hey, a brown that I didn’t turn into steampunk! Be surprised! Russet as a colour comes from a coarse cloth made of wool and dyed with woad and madder to give it a subdued grey or reddish-brown shade. By the statute of 1363, poor English people were required to wear russet. I wonder if that is where the view of brown as dull, serious, plain colour comes from.

I stayed within respectable, but Miss Russet insisted on going to a piano bar and refused to be plain! The said piano bar is a skybox and a dream scene from Garden of Dreams. 384 prims, 40×40 footprint, animations at the mic, piano, bar stools, chairs and cuddle and more-intense-snuggling couple activities in the couches.

Miss Russet has strapping new wedges by lassitude & ennui, available in L’accessoires. They’re mesh, come with HUD as usual and have both rigged version and unrigged versions that are thus modable for size. The magpie-amount of pearls are also by lassitude & ennui, from If I Were Rich Hunt. They’re mesh and modable, so I tinted some strands brown and black, the original version is all much paler.

The main russet thing, the heart of the look, is of course the mesh pencil skirt. It’s by tulip. from the Vintage Fair that is still going on. Three big sims full of wonderful things and the packed-up-with-people lag should be all gone now. If you haven’t yet visited, now’s a good time!

52 Colours: Tyrian Purple

Tyrian purple is historically the colour for royalty, for the Byzantium controlled imperial silks among other things. Children of the emperors were said to be born in the purple. That said I obviously had to go historical with it and get a gown from Evie’s Closet for Miss Tyrian Purple.

To get away with the fantasy influences and era/style clashes, I made her a vampire. Could even be a modern picture of a very old one with historical tastes, after all. The Roman Bath is by Garden of Dreams, full of bathing, lounging and cuddling animations and poses. It’s 208 prims with a footprint of 30×30.

The butterfly necklace by Maxi Gossamer, skin by Glam Affair and the updo with the colour change headband of jewelry by D!va are all in the current Collabor88. It’s full of awesome things, what with it being their first birthday. Much huzzah for the first year of collaboration!

The curliques around her eye are a part of separate makeup by M.O.C.K. Cosmetics, as is the lip colour. I just couldn’t resist a touch of eccentricity. That said, would you come for a relaxed toga bathing party if she invited you over?

Promenade Blues

It’s actually my favourite colour, even when I use black most of the time. Proper indigo or cobalt blue, none of those vague pastel things. Here showing off Promenade-dress by Geometry Clothing, available in Vintage Fair. The adorable flowers on top and waist are separate attachments, so you can choose if you want both, none at all or just one.

The Shirley-hair with optional bangs and an extremely fifties ponytail by *Alice Project* and the soft-toned Leena-skin by Bilo are also both in the fair. I had to add some makeup to change pink lips to red (you know me and pink), but they formed such a vintagey poster effect together that I couldn’t resist and went to Artilleri for the pictures.

I got the Aster-jewelry by {me.} while I was shopping at the fair to complete the look and then wandered to the beach in search of a matching life guard. Alas, no such luck. Guess one needs a swim suit to lure them out, maybe next time!

From Harlem to Montmartre

By walking. In heels. Don’t try this in real life! The pictures are taken during a short trip from Virtual Harlem to Virtual Montmartre, both of which are gorgeous sims.

This Wiggle-dress by ~Sassy!~ was amongst my very first must-have-purchases from the Vintage Fair. There’s a great variety of eras and styles in there, but in all honesty this is what I always end up getting. Pencil skirts from the era and styling when classy and sexy still went hand in hand. These are system layer clothes with mesh part replacing old prim parts, perfect for those who struggle with standard sizes. I wish more designers realized that there is actual demand for these at the moment.

Lynn-hair by *Alice Project* was perfect for the lady in red with its sharp bangs and luscious curls. There will be hairflips galore, the attitude is a necessary part of the styling. As are the poses, both by D.Luxx from Vintage Fair.

Vintage Fair covers three sims that are probably rather full still. When you get in, you can find *Alice Project* in Classic and Sassy! and D.Luxx in Retro.

La Vie En Rorschach

No, hell has not frozen over even though I am voluntarily blogging something pink! There’s an excellent reason for it and it’s called the Pink Ribbon Fair. The fair begins on Saturday (4th August) and benefits Relay for Life and specifically breast cancer research, thus the pink ribbons.

The La Vie En hat and collar are fair exclusives by Zibska, full of attitude so fierce that even I could wear them, despite my usual grumblings about pink being an abomination unto the gods of colour. Zib said that there’ll be a full colour change version of these after the fair and anyone purchasing these now will automatically get the full version upon release, so if you want to both support a good cause and get these in any colour, visit the fair!

The new Rorschach dress by Geometry Clothing is available in the recently started round of FaMESHed. I like how the hemline is so asymmetric, goes well with the pattern and thus the name. Go test it yourself, what do you see in its twists and turns?

It´s rorschach and prozac and everything is groovy

I know i picked a funny title for today, and it´s a line from The Curse of Millhaven by Nick Cave, it was also the inspiration for this dress by Geometry available now at FaMESHed and in several colours.

It just seemed perfect to use with the Bent. prop a small preview from what will be at Vintage Fair next saturday, this one was modified tho since it comes in simple blank blue tinting, i recolored most of the front, and retextured the inside walls, i love props you can mod and make them a little your own.

Also from Vintage Fair is the skin i´m wearing by theSkinnery, this is just the skin, but you´ll also find a really cute flapper makeup for it there, i´ll probably be showing you all later.

In the meanwhile, I´m breaking out of this small town, with golden sunsets, and everything is groovy and everything is fine, see you all soon.

Neon Arcade

Vintage Fair starts on the 4th, sunday, and this is a small preview of what you can find there, well at least some of the 80´s inspired stuff.

The 80´s always make me feel like laughing and crying at the same time, i was born in 1978, so i remember most of it, even if only as a child i used to love the colours and the big hair, my aunt was 17 when the 80´s started so i lived a lot of thru her, and she was an inspiration for this post in a way, her and Pacman that where a huge part of my childhood.

Because while she look super cool and fashionable, listening to music and going out clubbing i was silly awkward kid playing Pacman on my spectrum, since we never had an arcade in town. I just couldn´t get myself to sport big hair tho, it´s the part of the 80´s that makes me wan to cry.

I must admit when i saw this sweater at Vintage Fair i squeed, and laughed like crazy, because it must be one of the more 80´s sweater i ever seen, and i never tought someone could put a whole decade into one sweater, and that is what Vengeful Threads did.

Everything else was just so easy to put on and fitted it wonderfully, and it´s mostly Izzie’s, i must say i´m totally in love with the skin, i usually stick to my Mynerva and only change for blogging, but i´ve been living in this skin for a few days now and it´s growing on, and making it hard to take off. The leggings the nails where just perfect for this outfit, and the headband and bracelets are a gift available at the Fair.
