When you don’t know what to do but you want to do something (hucci contest)

and you aren’t sure if it’s going to to turn into a hot mess or come out beyond fantastic. That was my morning in high definition and perfect description. The other day, I saw two different plurks from Eboni Khan, the creator behind Hucci that really peaked my interest. I’m not really sure which order they were viewed but the first was a dress, the Umea, that caught my eye. The other was a Photo contest by Hucci with huge prizes that result in many lindens for the winners. Normally, I just watch these things and rarely participate but for whatever reason, I entered (and you should too!). (more information, credits, etc after the cut)

Here’s the problem that occurred while going on this grand adventure. First, I don’t buy too often from Hucci and it’s not because I don’t like the stuff. I do, Eboni is an amazing original mesh creator who works hard at making realistic type clothes. Little stomachs (which most grown women have), nice butt definition and chest definition and a size for just about every shape with minimal tweaking (if any) required. However, most of the items are simply not the style I generally aim for. Except this dress. I’m not sure what it is about this dress that makes me go all warm and fuzzy inside but it was something I had to have. Ever have one of those moments when you see something and go “need now!”? Black and White with some lassitude and ennui love (for no other reason then I can and it was there)

There is one sim on the grid that I love visiting and it’s the part of the LEA series. I don’t know how long these things stay up so if you have not gone to the CICA Sim, I highly recommend it. Done completely in black and white, the sim is full of imagination and details that I often miss and discover when I go back. What better way then to show appreciation for my favorite boot creator ever, lassitude and ennui, then heading over to a sim I love? There is no better way! (more information, randomness (as usual) and pictures, credits after the cut)

I found out the other day that lassitude and ennui has been on the grid for seven years through the It’s Only Fashion Blog where they issued a blogger challenge to celebrate the years of shoe making (and accessories!) of the creator behind lassitude and ennui, Jackal Ennui. I have no clue how long I have been buying boots from her, but I know it’s been a while and my inventory is jam packed with fabulous foot wear. My favorite boots are all of them but I do find that I use the Wanderlust boots most often for pictures. Wanderlust are boots that I would love to have for real (even if it means wearing skinny jeans which for some reason are also low riders and hello! Hunts and how we love them….(Peace on Earth and With Love Hunt and blogger applications for Gothmas by Gaslight)

We all love hunts….big, small, hard or easy…it doesn’t really matter. A hunt is a hunt is a hunt. We go, we hunt, we get and we happily open box after box after box and well, even more boxes. Tons of boxes that have tons of great and wonderful items in them for us to wear and decorate with. Hunts are also a great way to get around the grid and see what all is out there in the way of stores from favorites with new items to new stores that you’ve never heard of. (more randomness about hunts, credits and pictures after the cut)

I went on the With Love Hunt and Peace on Earth Hunt yesterday for a short bit and was happily excited to see a few of my favorite stores involved in them. Ah hell, who am I kidding, I just wanted to inexpensive shopping. I’m broke this month as are most people around the holidays. The With Love Hunt items are 10L each and well worth it because the designers have put out some major quality items. SAKIDE has a first frost outfit out that I’m show casing today and there is also a hunt prize for men in the box too. Lara Hurley, one of my favorite skin designers has a glorious creation in the With Love Hunt called Yuna and if you are not familiar with her skins, now is the time to go and become familiar. Sneak Preview for a new Mea Culpa Gown!!!

Tatanka Kaligawa, owner and designer of Mea Culpa, is back from a longer RL absence and he comes back with awesome news!!! I already saw some of the new creations he is working on and I could steal one, in a moment while he was chatting with a girl and not paying attention… :p

That means now I have to hurry, so that I can show you one of his brand new creations before he puts it in the shop! First of all I needed somebody to help me with the pictures, because SL still tries to bug me when I try snapping with lights and shadows… I went through my friends list and looked for a photographer, as I saw my little sister Falbala online. I stormed into her IMs asking her if she could do 2 pics for me very fast. She was giggling and I know, she usually is super busy but she agreed to do it and we met at an awesome sim she helped to build (yes, besides that she is a great model and photographer, she has quite some building skills*grins*).

While she worked on the pictures, I put the dress back to Tatanka‘s office where I grabbed it from and saw him still chatting. I was mumbling some things towards his direction, that I would have to continue working for my blog and excused myself. When I arrived at home, I already had the pictures from Falbala of the new “Last Succubus” gown. The gown is a wonderful combination of black and red and has some wonderful features and details. Lately I had a wonderful talk with Bouquet Babii, owner and designer of Vero Modero. We know each other for a longer time and she told me about her new Black Serie she was about to release. She asked me if I would pose for one of her vendor adverts and I told her that it would be a great pleasure for me. As she told me further that there was one dress that she thought of for me to pose as it was the “Merlin Myst” dress, I even felt more honored She told me to contact Dantelicia Ethaniel, the photographer who was supposed to shoot me in the “Merlin Myst” dress. I never heard about her before and for sure I was curious and peaked at her flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/49223218@N02/). What I saw… just took my breath away and I nearly could not wait for our shooting appointment. The result you can see above and I would like to thank Dantelicia and Bouquet for that great honor

Hair Fair 2012

The 7th Annual Hair Fair opens today with hundreds of new designs for both men and women. I always enjoy going to these types of events not only to see what my favorite designers have placed out but also to discover new (or unheard of to me) designers. I found quite a few participating in this year’s collection that will be added to my ‘frequent places to shop’ list.

This event also helps raise money for a very worthy charity called Wigs for Kids. This organization’s mission is to provide wigs to children who have lost their hair (i.e., via chemotherapy) in an effort to help them feel ‘normal’ and to feel better about themselves. The percentage of each purchase that will be donated to Wigs for Kids is listed in each store.

There is a Hair Fair group in SL where designers will be sending out demos of their hair for you to try BEFORE you go! It will save you loads of time, especially since you will be able to match the demos to the pics in this post to see which ones you even want to bother trying on! The Ladies Who Lunch summer collection is coming!

Feast your eyes on the premiere of the newest LWL fashion by taking a walk through the English countryside as MAD Agency models present “al Fresco” on May 19th at 10:00am and 12:00pm SLT.

The Summer 2012 LWL collection mixes biker leathers and vintage inspired fabrics with silk blends, bringing you an ultra-soft, feminine, yet sexy look. This contrast of modern, deconstructed silhouettes and Victoriana influences are perfect for occasion wear or for the discerning lunching lady or gentleman in high summer. They add a new look of sophisticated and sexy for the season. Details were inspired by sourced vintage pieces, including metal zip details, pocket styling, feathers and fabric combinations.

MAD Agency’s Art Director Maddox DuPont (MODAVIA Fashion Week set design & owner of KMADD) has created one of his most elaborate set designs to date. Have a picnic or dine al fresco while you immerse yourself in this English country estate surrounded with elaborate gardens in classic English architecture. The set that has taken weeks to complete and will be used for only 2 shows, can only be experienced during this event. Culture Shock 2012

Welcome to the second edition of Culture Shock! In case you didn’t attend last year, Culture Shock is a massive sim fair event organized by CHIC Management (the same masterminds behind Vintage Fair, Back to Black, The Platinum Hunts and many more) and sponsored by MODAVIA Productions.

The goal of this event is to celebrate trends and trendsetters within their business, incorporating music and art, all with reflections of their own personal first life cultures depicted in their creations.

For me, the best part is that each of the 184 stores participating will offer at least one NEW and EXCLUSIVE item during the event that gives 50-100% of the profits to the charity Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders! Last year over 1.5 million Lindens was raised and donated, and you can see the receipt for it here.

The event opened today, May 4th at 4PM SLT and runs through May 26th. There is also a gate at the landing point that ensures you aren’t a lag monster – you must have 50 scripts or less running to pass! (My personal fav trick is to wear a mesh avatar and your favorite AO and voila! You’re the queen/king of low lag!) Today marks the opening of an all new event just for the guys, created by Seraphim’s very own Mikel Monk, called THE MENS DEPT! This unique sales event will feature top-notch designers offering at least one item, with all items priced between 150L or less during each monthly round. We’ve always known as ladies how spoiled we are with such a never-ending selection of shopping choices, but as I mentioned at the beginning of spring, SL seems to be changing, and I hope that having more quality products for men continues to be one of them!

Wear Gray 2012

Vix and I teamed up to bring you coverage for an awesome charity event that opened today. Wear Gray for a Day 2012 is a two week event in which funds are raised for the American Brain Tumor Association. This organization’s goal is to fund research that will lead to improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of brain cancer with the ultimate goal of someday finding a cure. Over eighty designers are participating in the event with event exclusives and 100% donation items. There is also a hunt to participate in; the hunt object is a little gray brain.
