Make me Purr

Purring to me is an expression of absolute contentment, and yes, I am a cat lover.  A cat’s purr has been said to vibrate at a frequency that can actually heal bones, and cats purr not only when contented, but also when frightened or in pain, kicking off endorphins to heal and calm themselves and everyone around them. For me though, I think of other things that make me purr. Some days it is letting a piece of Swiss chocolate melt in my mouth, or listening to most anything by Lindsey Stirling.  Sunshine on my bare shoulders, or laying in bed on a weekend morning with a purring kitten on my chest…yes…I purr too. Then, there are the special people in your life, where there nearness alone, those silent times of connection where no words are necessary, just a look, a touch….I don’t hear it, but  I can feel it inside; that long, languid, contented purr.  Purrs are found when we slow down, be present, and just savor.  A purr is pure blissful enjoyment of the moment.… Read the restShine Comic Fair Meow_003

Just in Time for Tyne – Skin Fair 2014 Last Chance

Last day of Skin Fair 2014 is March 30, and you still have time to pick up Amacci’s new Tyne skin.  I had so much fun playing with this skin, because in addition to all the pretty eye and cheek colors varieties built into the skin itself, lips come bare until you start mixing and matching the complimentary lip tattoos in the pack.  I couldn’t resist, which you’ll see below. Each skin comes with the bare skin plus one makeup option.   But if I can be completely honest…the best option is fatpack.  Take a look for yourself.  Appliers to match your Lolas, Phatt Azz, and Slinks can also be purchased separately. While Tyne is currently featured at Skin Fair in Cream, once it rolls out to the stores, even more skin tones will be available. And while we are discussing events, also be sure to check out Genre’s Mer theme, where you can find Circa Living’s siren-inspired vanity, which also includes a stool (not shown) loaded with animations so you can primp til your heart’s content.… Read the restAmacci Tyne_004

100% Boyfriend Approved

I have a thing for comfort clothes in both RL and SL, and when you get comfort combined with total smexy, I found a new favorite anytime outfit to grab for dancing, shopping, exploring, or hanging out. This little number from Urban Cherry looks great coming and going, teasing from the front with its criss-cross bodice and belly baring scoop, and then begging to be untied from the back. It comes 100% boyfriend approved. They just can’t resist those string ties. Just don’t plan to stay in it for long. It is also girlfriend approved, for the record, currently being offered at the Urban Cherry mainstore in black at 50% off, and in the red I’m wearing for 50% off at the Thrift Store Event. Other colors also available. Oh how I love play clothes, especially when they are on sale. Styling: Dress: Miss Daisy Halter Dress in red – Urban Cherry on sale at The Thrift Shop for 50% Hair: Collide Autumn - Exile Earrings: Daise earrings - N@N@ Bracelet:  Caprise Bracelet - [glow] Studio Shoes: Admiral Zebra for Slink Mid feet – CandyDoll Poses: Martinique – oOo Stuido Poses

Pieces of Me

I could say new year, new look, but this one is a drastic one …so perhaps it deserves a bit more explanation.  A quote I read recently sums it up nicely. “One day someone is going to hug you so tight, that all your broken pieces fit back together.” Since I started in SL, I have lived many different lives,  avatars created with components of me, but never all of me, to keep my heart and emotions safe.  There was Minx, my flirty, scrappy warrior pixie; Ciara, my spiritual gypsy witch; Terelyn, the fallen angel conflicted about her place in the world; Mika, my magical child self.  And of course, you’ve all known Nyree, my professional model working self.  You see, by splitting myself this way, I could still be part of me that I knew, which gave me some level of comfort, but at the same time, because it was only part, it didn’t matter so much if that one part was accepted or rejected. I once had someone tell me if I could ever bring all my avatars together, then I’d be completely me. … Read the restPieces of Me

Fall In Love with Contrast

While styling the other day, I found myself in an interesting conversation with a designer friend.  In a nutshell, we came to the agreement that a contrast is better than a match, so that each piece stands out in its best light. The people in our lives are like that too.  A contrast is more compatible than an exact match.  I know for myself, I am a terrible procrastinator, often because I spend so much time planning, it leaves me in a scramble to get things done.  I don’t need another person in my life with that matching trait.  I need the contrast of a spontaneous person who is willing to wing it a little, break me out of my rut, and help me get moving and experiencing.  And they don’t need someone just like them, for that matter.  Living all for today would mean getting blindsided by a tomorrow they aren’t prepared for.  So embrace the contrasts in the people you love.  Don’t try to make them act like you.  It is those differences you fell in love with so that each of you can shine in your own unique way.… Read the restFinesmith - Love Fall Poster

A Dream Within – Poet’s Heart

“A Dream Within…” is a charity event for Crohn’s and Colitis UK (info: http://www.crohnsandcolitis.org.uk/) and is inspired by Edgar Allan Poe. Why Crohn’s and Colitis UK? Crohn’s Disease is a treatable illness, but not curable, also the cause is still unknown. Many people have never even heard of this illness, but with time the symptoms and side effects of Crohn’s will get worse (anaemia, short bowel syndrome, malnutrition, DVT… etc the list is going on and on), and it sometimes gets life threatening. With the growing number of patients diagnosed each year it is vital that the research towards this illness is well funded, that soon they will finally find a cure so future patients will not have to face the huge impact of Crohn’s on their lives. Why Poe? There is no other like him. Each designer was assigned to a different verse/part of one of Poe’s poems and was asked to interpret it into a creation, a visual composition of theirs.… Read the restDream Within Logo

Less is more

At this stage in my life, I am finding that in many ways, less is more.  I would rather have less quantity, but more quality.  If I don’t love it or use it, then why keep it?  One example is I have essentially “staged” my home.  I’m anticipating a move in the coming months, so with the exception of a few things that make it still feel like a home, it is very clean and uncluttered, with all excess already packed, or set aside for a yard sale.  Less stuff means I spend less time cleaning now, and will have an easier move when the time comes. And now that it is all packed away with only the essentials I truly use, I find I really don’t miss the excess. Also, after much deliberation, I am letting go of my SL property in favor of a tidy 200 prim skybox.  This has been a very difficult decision, as I’ve owned my own property for over 4 years out here, and my SL home is a haven for me.  I have come to realize though, that my SL spending is causing me to neglect some important RL budgetting needs.  … Read the restLess is More Close

Cocktail of Color

Have you ever gotten on a color kick, where you find yourself gravitating over and over to a particular color?  It can tell you something about where you are in life.  I have been on an orange tangent, as some of you may have noted in my posts.  So I thought I’d do a little color psychology, to see what my subconscious may be trying to communicate to me. You see, in real life, orange is a color that looks abysmally awful on me.   I never wear it and don’t decorate with it, as it turns me a lovely jaundiced yellow.  In SL, however…I love, love, love it, and it has been a dominant theme in my clothing, decorating, and posts as of late. I learned in my Google research that orange is the color of creativity, which has always been what SL has been about for me.  Orange is also indicative of a need or desire for change, and can supposedly help one adjust to changes. Curiosity is a characteristic of this color, when it comes to exploring new things.  This makes sense when I consider at my current stage of life, I am seeking a job change that will move me out-of-state, and also bring closure to a 3 and a half-year relationship I’ve been in.… Read the restCoctail of Color

Intuition

Have you been listening to that small voice inside, that gentle prodding, your inner wisdom that is perhaps nudging you in a new direction?  We all have a touch of intuition, that part of us that has an inner knowing about what we need to do, but it is easy to tune it out or choose not to listen to it whenever it seems to be steering us in a new direction. For example, one of the scariest things for me is saying hello to someone I don’t know, especially if I am the one reaching out first.  And yet, I’ve seen that inner wisdom be right so many times.  As early as second grade, I recall the teacher saying we could choose who we sat beside, but both parties must be in agreement.  I locked eyes with a girl across the room, and she with me.  We had never spoken before that day, but something inside us knew that we were destined to become best friends.  Intuition is like that.  Particularly with someone new. We may not know what the draw is, but something in us says “Say hello.”  And when we do, often times they become a dear friend, a lover, or if nothing else, they help us or we help them learn something that was needed that perhaps could have not been found if not for the meeting.… Read the restIntuition

Tea Party

I think the Brits have the right idea.  American girls dispense with their tea parties as a rule some time around when we outgrow our dolls and teddy bears.  It is a shame really, because we all get hungry and need a snack at about that time of the afternoon, anyway.  Secondly, the only place in the U.S. we get to wear awesome hats is to the Kentucky Derby, and if you aren’t into horse racing, or old enough to pull off wearing one to church, there just isn’t much opportunity to doll-up with girly hat included.  I’m for bringing back tea parties, with all the goodies. And speaking of goodies, Circa Living’s newest delicacies simply make me hungry.  My chocolate cravings have been off the charts between the trays of chocolate drizzled croissants, muffins, and chocolate candy cups.  They were perfect for an SL garden tea party, and of course, I took the opportunity to wear a girly hat. Comings and goings: For the love of shopping

Saturday turned into a mega shopping day for me, visiting some of the events just coming in, and making one last run to some of those that are going out.  Here is a sampling of some of the finds and finery from my shopping trip. Going out end of day July 28th. The Home Show, where I found this flower table-scape from Circa Living, and Hair Fair, where any budget I might have gone in with was…gasp…quickly out the window for the love of hair. You still have time today to make one last round before these great events close down. Events coming in…I Love Donna Flora, where I snapped me up some spunky green sandals for my Slinks.  I love shopping for a good cause, with so many lovely exclusives donated by the designers especially for this event, and knowing that funds are going to help a wonderful lady, Ms. Donna Flora herself, Squinternet Larnia.  So, I figured I had every excuse to indulge.  Also new this month is this luscious halter babydoll dress from Shine by [ZD], with its satin sheen.… Read the restShine Handverk Events

Cabana Boy Not Included

There’s a deceptively simple box sitting in the window of the Circa Living booth at The Home show. It is labeled Paradise Reef Outdoor Massage Room, but looking at the little picture on the box just doesn’t give you the full feel for all the goodies on the inside.  Here’s some of what’s to love in the box. 17 pieces including the curtained teak cabana, animated massage table, massage mat with 2 tender sequenced scenes, two water features, one with water lilies, one with bamboo, rug, bamboo hanging lights,  plants, hot rocks and orchids, a shelf filled with spa supplies, incense, and towels and 4 tiki torches. This sensual little get away is perfect for backyard or poolside for the couple that loves to indulge each other with some TLC. I combined it with another offering at The Home Fair, Circa’s Avlona Outdoor Shower, which also comes with the plants you see in the white planters, so after you both get each other heated up with a bit of massage, you can cool back down again with a shower, either alone or together.… Read the restCirca Massage Room

Letting go

You’ve been letting me go, little by little for a while now, and I’ve been moving away.  You’ve been my temporary home, and in that time, more of a partner to me than others who vowed to love me till death parted us, but left far sooner.  You’ve never promised this to me, nor I to you, and yet you’ve shown your commitment to me in myriad ways, mostly by letting me be me, and loving me despite my quirks. With you, I feel safe emotionally.  Safe enough to gradually…ever so gradually…let you go, because it is time, and I need to, even if I still love you.  We’ve both seen it coming, the love still there, but the reality of a future together dimming.  The gentle pulling away, spending more time living separate lives, clinging together briefly in moments of passion and panic, as though trying to reassure each other that it isn’t ending, but knowing in our hearts what is on the horizon.  Don’t speak of it…let’s not speak of it aloud.… Read the restshine-sharp casuals
