Breaking SL10B News! Summer blockbuster machinima on fire!

Good evening! I'm Tymmerie Thorne reporting live from Immaculate Perception Trailer Park at SL10B where alien robots are running amok.

Earlier, while interviewing comedian, writer, and machinimatographer Catboy Qunhua about the soon-to-be-released machinima, Flying Saucers From Outer Space, we witnessed a large explosion. The fire and destruction didn't seem to surprise or upset anyone except for me. But, sources at the scene tell me that Mr. Qunhua's dress may have desensitized them to loud flashes of color and light.

The flaming exhibit features a replica of the machinima set which was built to look just like the real virtual Immaculate Perception Trailer park. Luckily, the destruction is not expected to affect Flying Saucers From Outer Space's July release date. So far, authorities don't have an estimate for the damage to the the smoldering trailer park, but the laundromat appears to be a total loss.

The fire is still burning at this hour, since the SL First Responders exhibit is on a completely different sim of the festival. (Also, the First Responders are sort of busy since it appears that a tornadopipelinefireearthquakerainstorm is happening at their SL10B parcel.)

SL10B News Investigates: What is that squeaking noise?

When I spied this humongous balloon dog at The Orange Works' exhibit while taking a pod tour of SL10B, I got an idea! I quickly TPd back home to get my balloon dog so that I could introduce the two.

The Orange Works people noticed he was on a leash and asked about it. I explained that my balloon dog was a little high, so it was for his safety.

The dogs seemed to get along great! Before I left the exhibit, I rubbed my balloon dog back and forth against my head a few times, stuck it to the big dog, and gave them some privacy. I'm hoping they'll mate - because I want puppies!

You'll be able to get your own balloon dog avatar at The Orange Works exhibit in a few days! (You'll also be able to get a balloon horse avatar, but they are still working on it, so it might not be ready for a day or so.) You know how people are customizing that bear avatar that Linden Lab gave us? Well, The Orange Works folks would love for us to do the same thing and show off our creativity.

You need to come here! The big balloon sculptures at this exhibit (both horse and dog) have several poses in them for photography fun!

SL10B News Investigates: I can haz birfdai caek?

Good evening! I'm Tymmerie Thorne reporting live from the SL10B Community Celebration sims, where everyone is getting ready for the big opening on Sunday, June 16th.

I spied these extremely large felines at the KittyCatS exhibit space lounging happily in a beach sand covered parcel. But this reporter wonders: is a potentially dangerous situation brewing? Could the heavily tattooed, unsupervised cats suddenly become playful during the long two weeks of festivities? There are many colorful and eye catching things all over the sims - the kind of distractions that I've seen cats fall victim to on countless YouTube videos.

I asked these kitties how long they think they'll be able to hold out until they want to sit in a cardboard box. How long will it be before they need desperately to sleep on a computer keyboard? I wondered what sort of safety plan was in place should they suddenly become excited and tempted to chase and play with colorfully dressed visitors.

The kitties refused to give a statement. However, my sources tell me that you can get some cat swag - specifically, your own free SL10B KittyCatS pet - at this KittyCatS Summer Splash! exhibit during SL10B.

Countdown to the Big Celebration! Breaking SL10B Rest Area News!

Good evening, I am Tymmerie Thorne coming to you live from the Exhilarate Roads rest area at the SL10B Community Celebration sims. All 22 sims of the Second Life 10th Birthday Celebration will open on Sunday June 16th, but even before the party starts, there could be trouble. After a day of visiting exhibits and picking up wonderful gifts, visitors might be shocked when they take a break at the rest area here.

Tonight, we heard from someone who actually explores virtual restrooms (me) that the women's facilities did not have doors. We investigated the otherwise adorable and well appointed rest area and found that - not only were the doors missing - there were no toilets. And we suspect that even if there had been a soap dispenser, it would have been empty!

Right now authorities are not sure if this situation has any significance for avatars who, let's be honest, only put bathrooms in their homes for decoration.

Also, you can get the SL earrings that I'm wearing for free on the Marketplace.

I’d Rather Be Lucky

Back in the olden days, when I used to work in the finance world, I would frequently hear people say "I'd rather be lucky, than smart!"

I'd always rather be lucky! Especially when I want to win the prizes in this lucky chair (LC). There is less of an air of desperation around this particular chair than there usually is around LCs since you can buy the prizes if you don't want to wait.

But, I wait. The thrill of winning a $100L prize after only 6 hours is too tantalizing. I'm serious - even when that turns out to be a USD$.07/hour salary if it was a job. (I'm shooting for SL Senior VP of the Letter T Division. I'd try Sesame Street, but they are having layoffs.)

There are some benefits to an exciting career in chair waiting. Sometimes people get chatty and social. You get to people watch -which can be very exciting (Did I tell you that last night a fight broke out over someone blocking a view of the letters?). You can multi-task childcare along with winning if you have a preschooler at home. Also, I'm picking up a bit of Portuguese. Best benefit? You get to see all sorts of cute avatars like these:

Movie Poster Meme: Wreck-it Ruth

Strawberry Singh came up with a really fun challenge - to recreate a movie poster in SL! You can see a lot of the movie posters on Flickr or in-world at the LEA sims.

I chose the Disney animated movie Wreck-It Ralph because the movie was super cute and I really loved the character of Vanellope von Schweetz. I was planning on dressing like her for Halloween in RL, but Halloween is a long way off and making my avatar look like her will tide me over until then. That is actual prim licorice as my hair bow!

It was hard to find a poster with a prominent image of Vanellope, so I took the picture above to show off my Vanellope outfit. I wanted to find a Sugar Rush-like place to take it, but... well, let's just say that searching the words 'candy' and 'sugar' with adult search enabled was educational.

Bear in mind- I am in no way, shape, or form a graphic designer or artist. But, still I think it turned out not so bad!

The picture above was fun to set up. Since I thought it would be very meta to have a cartoon game movie poster parodied inside of a cartoon game, I wanted to have as much of this as possible be from SL and not Photoshopped. So, I built the mock game console in my sky workshop/photography studio.

I took the picture for the background of the game screen in Kama City in Zindra, where I remembered I had seen a breezeway that looked a little like the "subway terminal" place in the movie poster. (Exploring the adult sims so often when they wer (Read more...)

Hungry Like the Bear

The SL10B Bear (me) wanted to do something social this past weekend, so when I heard that there would be a party at the Duran Duran Universe sim for Nick Rhodes' birthday, I decided to check it out.

This party had a theme - space alien robots! There was a costume contest at the party and the winner was supposed to receive a Nick Rhodes avatar. I wasn't trying to win though since Nick was my second to least favorite Duran Duran member before Andy. (Sorry, Nick. Happy Birthday, anyway.)

Do you have any idea how difficult it was to fit those bikini bottoms to the bear avatar? The SL10B bear has no bottom to speak of, no waist, and a pot belly. But, I didn't want to go to the party pants-less so I persevered. Duran Duran was a wild band back in the day, but I think they'd frown on bare bears now.

I didn't know anyone there, but people seemed nice and, of course, the music was awesome. The other party-goers seemed to like my bear outfit! I think that they appreciated that I followed the party theme.

Maybe Simon Le Bon was there in a disguise avatar? If he was, maybe he saw me and was able to look past my mouth-breather facial expression, my thick coat of fur, and ill-fitting panties to fall in SLove! Maybe he'll write a song about our SLove! Maybe a song called Wild Bears or Ursine of the Snake?

The Glasses Half Full

There's an epidemic of SLurping sounds in SL. So rude.

I noticed this noise while shopping a couple of weeks ago, but I only just figured out what was causing it: drink pouches! Alcoholic, Capri Sun-style drink pouches: the craze that's sweeping the land!

But now I am part of the problem. I got the ones in these pictures at the GALA gacha event. I just wanted to get a couple of them, but then I got a rare. And then, I had to have all of them! Sigh. I'm selling my extras at the Garbanzo yard sale. (By the way, I also have some of the rare snorkel goggles and other assorted items for sale at that yard sale.)

I'm selling a variety of the cocktail packets, including both beer pouches that I got. I don't want the beer ones because beer makes people gassy. And who (besides a misguided teenaged me) would ever drink beer through a straw?

You should be rudely SLurping along with me. I have a large personal collection of these cocktail pouches now, and they're not going to waste. I don't want to be the only SLurper.

It drives me nuts that mouth accessories like this drink pouch don't include an animation to hold the drink. How does the drink not slip off of the straw and fall to the ground? I improvised (awkwardly) with a random pose.

Bearly Entertaining

Considering how many RL men have female avatars, I am a little shocked that the free SL 10th Birthday Celebration bear that Linden Lab is giving out to us is not more feminine. But no worries. I frilled it up a bit on my own. Thank heaven that I still have some prim stuff in my wardrobe. This bear suit makes look fat. Not fat for a bear, of course. (I've done other posts about bears.)

This is what it would look like if the Birthday Bear decided to go on stage on Lauren's Place for the regular Tuesday night Lauren Weyland & Friends variety show at 5 PM SLT. (Get there early if you can - the pre-show is fun!)

Accidental SL

Earlier this week, people on Plurk (Add me!) were trading stories about trying to earn Lindens as newbies. After hearing my friend Malicia* tell her story, I wrote a song for her. It goes a little something like this:

You got a job dropping prims,

emoting, and flirting on adult rated sims!

You wrote that you were a dancer on your profile.

Your neighbor read it. It made him smile.

She was a stripper!

She was an SL stripper!

On your day off, your neighbor sent an IM.

He said "You are a dancer?" and asked you to visit him.

He made you get on a pink pose ball and he got on the blue one!

You had so much fun!

She thought it was love!

Teach Me Something Meme: Managing Your Inventory

Strawberry Singh's has challenged us to teach something on our blogs, so I decided to share my trick for having a small inventory! Ready?

I keep my inventory small by keeping my inventory small! Look at these tiny dresses! I modify everything I own down to Barbie size! Polly Pocket size, if I can manage it.

What? Ugh. You actually wanted to learn something? Fine.

Inventory Management
This method works for me because it lets me organize things in small steps using very small blocks of time. Other people have smaller inventories - mine is roughly 30k right now, but it's not a huge number for a 5 1/2 year old and I can find anything I need easily.

I've broken this down into two parts: inventory maintenance and inventory reduction. I've bolded key parts to make it easier for you to skim this post.

Part 1 - MAINTENANCE
Nearly everything I acquire goes through the following steps:

Arrives in inventory.
Moves into 'New' items folder.
Moves into a sub-folder inside the 'New' folder.
Is opened/viewed/adjusted.
Moves to permanent folder.

Even if I just get one object moved one step through the system, I'm a bit more organized.

You need to do a few quick things to get your inventory ready to do this:

Create a set of 'New' folders, if you don't already have them. I have New Clothing, New Body Parts, New Home Decor, New Free, New Jewelry and Accessories, etc.

I did Strawberry Singh's SL Guilty Confessions meme (Share your top second life guilty confessions.) and, now, I'm in Second Life jail. Here are the charges:

Conspiracy to make myself seem cooler than I really am by using the phrase "...when I was an SL model..." once too often.
Criminal Mischief for flying in sims with flying disabled.
Contributing to the Delinquency of an Avatar for showing others how to override no-fly zones.
Perjury for telling people that I was "The Face of Lesbian SexGen" after posing for a couple of ads back when I was an SL model.
A bajillion counts of Lewd Conduct for hoping onto pose balls with my husband Jerremy.
Fraud for faking a crash once to get out of an awkward conversation.
Indecent Exposure for accidentally TPing naked into General rated sims.
Loitering for not moving away from a landing spot at a crowded event quickly enough that time my RL toaster caught on fire.
Trespassing for cam shopping events before they open.
Espionage for discussing hunt item locations.
Public intoxication on happiness whenever I find cute food items or miniature chairs for sale.

7-day Virtual Squat Challenge

Oh, hi there! Let me catch my breath! I'm in the middle of today's Squat Challenge exercises. Real Life versions of these 30 Day Squat Challenges are going around the internet like wildfire - you can find them on blogs, Tumblr accounts, Pinterest, exercise and diet sites, etc. In them, you're challenged to do an increasing number of squats each day until, on the 30th day, you are doing ∞ squats and you can rip phone books in half with your bare buttocks.

This RL exercise meme inspired me to create a squat challenge workout for our SL avatars. Unlike the RL challenges, my virtual squat challenge takes much less effort; takes only 7 days to complete; and will give you the perky, pixel posterior of your dreams. I even made up a little chart for you to follow. Enjoy!

When I was SL grocery shopping recently (not really!), there were two other people there RPing a mom and kid grocery shopping. (I tried to get them in the picture for "atmosphere" but they kept moving.) Is grocery shopping with children in tow the kind of fun experience that you'd want to reenact it for fun? I guess nothing about SL should surprise me anymore. After all, there are people in here RPing things like slavery or living before the invention of frappuccinos, too. *shudder*

Anyhoo, after many tries, I finally finished the new haiku blog meme challenge from the lovely and talented Strawberry Singh. I got on a roll and I couldn't decide on just one haiku.

She’s a Haute

Hi! I can help the next person!

Every once in a while, a heated discussion will start somewhere in our SL community regarding the name of the event Whore Couture Fair. (First things, first - when I got there and realized that flying was disabled at the event, I said words much worse than 'whore'.)

Anyhoo, while I rang up some of the customers, I thought about the issue. Maybe people object to the use of the word 'couture', which actually refers to custom made items? In that case, I think that if I was in charge I would call the event Harlot Depot - but with the 'ot' in harlot pronounced like it is in depot.

However, that still leaves out working men. Is that the controversy? Maybe not, but don't steal my idea for the Manwhore Store.

3 Wishes for Second Life

In honor of Strawberry Singh's newest meme - Three Second Life Wishes - I typed the word 'wish' into search and TPd to the first place listed - Wish. There I found an Ancient Egyptian Themed mall, and HELLO!!! Talk about wishes coming true: I love malls!

While I was checking out the new Spring after-life-active-wear collections (Loin cloths are in!), I thought about what things I would want if I was granted three wishes for Second Life:

Well, first, obviously, I'd wish for infinite wishes. I mean, who doesn't know to use the first wish for that? And even if the wish grantor said, "No wishing for infinite wishes!" I would still try. The worst they can do is say no, yes? Yes.
The second thing I would wish for is to always be the prettiest avatar in Second Life. (You would, too, and you know it.)
My third wish would be for the ability to sort people's inventory for them without having to log into their accounts. I've always been dying to see what my husband Jerremy has in his inventory since I don't think he has ever sorted it or deleted anything since he first rezzed. Plus, I could turn this ability into a nice little side business.
Fourth, Second Life would be renamed. The name Second Life has too many bad connotations and baggage. I'd rename it Girl Wonderland, after this blog. Or maybe Tymmerie-atropolis? New Thorneland?

I'm a little behind on the newest meme from the lovely and talented Strawberry Singh. This one is a all about blogging and it originally had more questions, but I cut some out for the sake of brevity and I left space to write about what I know you waiting are on the edge of your seat for: what I got as a prize for the Food Inspector Game.

How long have you been blogging? Since before you were a twinkle in your typists eye.
Why did you start blogging? I honestly can't remember any more.
Do you comment on other people’s blogs? Ugh! Gee, thanks for asking this, Strawberry, because now I feel horribly guilty for not commenting more often!
Do you keep track of how many visitors you have? Yes. Each visitor is tranquilized, measured, and tagged with a GPS (grid positioning system) device before being set loose again in-world.
Did you ever regret a post that you wrote? I only regret that sometimes I think of a better way to say something after I have already hit the publish button.
Do you think your readers have a true sense of who you are based on your blog? I sure as heck hope so.
Are there topics that you would never blog about? Never say never.
What have you found to be the benefits of blogging? It's a very handy alibi in case someone ever tries to frame me for a crime like SLembezzlement, SLextortion, or avatar-cide.

Jerremy isn't even wearing a hairnet! YUCK!

My husband Jerremy and I tried to go to Fantasy Fair, but it was a ridiculous, laggy time. So we gave up and did something decidedly less popular and less crowded: the Food Safety Inspector Game!

I was lured to the Food Safety Inspector Game by the promise of a prize for solving the puzzle. I wanted Jerremy along because he is good at solving puzzles. I hoped with all of my heart that the prize would be something food related. Would it be pie? Would it be a waitress costume? Would it be a new dishwasher?

To play, you search for 16 food safety hazards inside of a shockingly dirty diner and then rat them out to the Health Department. You collect note cards as you find each hazard and then use the information and passwords from the cards to do a quiz and solve the final puzzle. Jerremy had to log out before we finished (I just pretended that his shift at the diner was over.), but I was still able to solve the puzzle correctly. I turned in my answers and waited excitedly for my prize.

But, I didn't receive anything, as far as I can tell. I did get a 'thank you' note card for playing and rating how well the game worked. And I picked up some hand sanitizer. Is the hand sanitizer the prize? (I hope not; it doesn't do anything! It should make squirting noises and then make your avatar rub it's hands together obsessively.) What’s your SL name? Tymmerie Thorne. It rhymes with "shimmery porn." (That was not on purpose.) Click that button on the right to hear me pronounce it.
What made you choose this name? I made up the name Tymmerie (without making up a spelling for it) as a creative name for a future child/fish/dog/stripping gig. Then, I needed a 'T" surname for pleasing alliteration. But Tymmerie Tomorrow sounded too "out there" and the only other T surname that was available at the time was Thorne. I now wish I had gone with Tomorrow - it would have sounded so much nicer rolling off the tongue.

Nobody Knows the Troobles I’ve Seen

Did you get your Troobles pets? I did. They are free from the Lab and, well, I like free stuff. You only have until April 25th to get them from Amazon.com, so RUN!!

When I first opened the package and took them out, their eyes wouldn't rez. That made me think that they were from the prim pet outlet store and that was why LL gave them to us. Frowny face. But then, Alicia Chenaux told me to put out their updater (their food) and get shiny, new, sighted Troobles. So, don't forget to do that if you get some!

I'm still not sure why LL is giving us free stuff. It's not my Rez Day and it's not a holiday. Perhaps they're Trojan Troobles and I should be more concerned? I won't look a gift Trooble in the mouth. The only concern I should have is that I let them get up on the furniture.

I'll have to play with them some to figure out what can be done with them. Are they edible? Ride-able? It appears that they aren't breedable; I tried rubbing the mommy and the daddy together, but all that made was static, not more babies.

Strawberry is Berry Nosy This Week

That's me on the far left, waiting in the audience for this week's Lauren Live show to start. (Tuesdays at 5 PM SLT on the Cookie sim) I kept trying to sit on that stack of pillow near my friend Haley, but SL wanted me to sit here.

This week, Strawberry Singh has given us the OK to pick and choose which of the nosy questions from her SL Firsts meme to answer. But, not only will I do that, I'm actually going to substitute in some questions of my own!

First time I got up on stage at Lauren Live variety show: It was last week! It was a bit of a surprise to me, but it was fun! Her show is always fun to watch and even more fun to participate in. This is a link to a video of the show. If a get brave enough and find some material, I might do it again next week.
First SL Friend: Molly something-or-other? I have an awful memory and she left SL a long time ago. I met Molly one day when I was shopping for textures at Esprit Decor. (Awww! Remember that store?) She came in looking for someone to help her buy a wall. No one else was in the store to answer her plea for help, so I did. I'm glad I did because meeting her led to a series of events that led to meeting my husband Jerremy.

I Hate to Burst Your Bubble

My husband Jerremy recently told me that he's decided it's time to get a new bubble blower. As shocked as I was, I knew this was coming. He's had his favorite bubble blowing gun since around the time we first met back in 2007. I remember him IMing me right after he first purchased it - he was sitting in a hot tub as he thumbed through the instruction manual. (True story! And I found it very charming in the way that creepy SL things are charming when you're in love.)

I've since been reminiscing about all of the fun we've had using Jerremy's bubble blower. We decided to mount all of his old bubble blowers above the fireplace.

As nice as those memories are, I look forward making new ones. I'm excited to see the detailed textures that mesh bubble blowing guns have these days. Maybe Jerremy will find one with fancy, new, texture-change features so we can try blowing bubbles in different colors or one with three barrels for shooting out three times more bubbles!

If he finds one that he likes a lot, I'll probably end up needing to get a new bubble blower because I'll wear mine out trying to keep up with him!

My Top 5 SL Pet Peeves:

~~Seeing Kim Kardashian on the cover of every magazine, every damn month despite the fact that she has never done anything of value...~~ Oops... I meant parcels where 'fly' is disabled.

When people mispronounce my SL name. It's like "Tim, hurry!" but without the 'h' sound.

Not understanding the weekly Sunday SL Secrets. I like to know what's going on, you know? Like, if SL was the suburbs in the 1950s, I'd be a housewife standing at my back fence chatting with the neighbors about other neighbors every day.

SL's reputation with the general public. I'd prefer that admitting that I play SL would be less "admitting" and more "bragging". I'd prefer if it was less "Wow! You must be really creepy!" and more "Wow! You must be really creative!"

Not finding all the hunt items in a hunt. This is a tragedy since I am quite certain that the items I didn't find had the most awesome gifts EVER in the history of SL and which will never be available again EVER for any price.

Little quirks on the official LL viewer, like the way none of your preferences stay checked/unchecked and that every photo takes at least two steps (I lose so may good shots that way! Or at least that is my excuse for lack of artsy fartsy photos on my blog.)&nb (Read more...)

I decided to show Jerremy exactly what I do in SL when he is not logged in. So, I took him to a shoe store. Of course, Jerremy knows that I do more than just shop. I go to Rez Day parties, too.

I snapped the picture below at my friend Marlee's pajama-themed Rez Day Party this weekend. That's Marlee there in purple silk PJs with her back to the camera and dancing with her husband Silverthorn. And that's me in bunny slippers. And on the bottom left? That's an SL photobomb.

I miss parties in SL! Since we just moved to a bigger parcel of land, it might be time to start planning a housewarming party. If we do, watch this space because you'll be invited, of course.

Hunts Are Very Expensive

I now have definitive proof that prize hunts increase sales. Proof: I just spent $1,500 Lindens on a fatpack of chairs that I don't even need while doing The Nest's Easter egg hunt.

Of course, I only bought them because they come with a set of matching mini-chairs. So, hmmm. I guess what I really have is proof that if you are a creator participating in a hunt and add miniature chairs to your products, you will increase your sales from me.

I've written before about my RL collection of miniature chairs and how it has crossed over into SL. (My husband Jerremy even made me a set himself as a present for our first wedding anniversary.) I'm kind of excited with the state of my virtual collection at the moment. And yes, I realize that now, with mesh, nearly any item can be shrunken down to a teeny, tiny size. That takes some of the thrill out of collecting miniatures, but I still really dig finding chairs that are made tiny on purpose.

In other news... How can I still be looking for eggs in this !&%$#@ hunt?? I checked and I am still missing two eggs: one from LAME and one from floorplan. I've been at this for what feels like years. At this point, I know The Nest sim better then I know my own home. Obviously, I am a terrible, terrible hunter and should stick to shopping.

What is the rez date for your current SL Avatar that you use most often? Thinking back on how expensive it's been to kit out one avatar prevents me from ever doing it again. I only have one avatar - the terribly expensive Ms. Tymmerie Thorne-Darwin whose rez date of August 20, 2007 makes her a Leo just like me.
Where was the first place you made friends as a newb and got to know people in Second Life? It was some nude beach. sex club, or sandbox. I wish I was kidding, but I just wanted to find people and that's where I found them.

Moose Abuse

After performing thorough cavity searches of these moose, I must conclude that there are no Easter eggs hidden in their butts or anywhere else. Obviously, I'm running out of easy places to look.

I've about given up on thinking of anywhere else I have not searched on this sim. In case you couldn't tell, I'm doing the Easter Egg Hunt at The Nest. Last night, I enlisted my husband Jerremy to help look. While he is a talented hunter (even finding the egg hidden in the ground under the water tower!), I still don't have all of the eggs. I'm missing several eggs from Organica, DIGS egg #1, floorplan egg #4, Cheeky Pea egg #2, and other assorted eggs filled with home decor delights.

I hate to violate more woodland creatures, but I'm desperate to find them all and I see some deer over there with suspicious looks on their faces. Gotta run!

ZOMG! Look! That blonde lady with no pants got two rares! I wonder if she'll sell them? I need to ask her which machine she got them from.

Anyhoo, as you can also see from the picture above, I finally got into The Arcade Gatcha (vending machine) event officially. (I had been shopping it by camming in from the next sim and by hitting yard sales.) Since I am a Prim Food Aficionado (It's true - check my SL Profile.), I've been quite sad at how stingy a certain gatcha machine is with giving out the Tee*fy rare cotton candy maker. I need it for parties. Desperately.

This is the Sparkle Skye yard sale area. The table looks different now, though. I've added a few of the *BOOM* Nature's Crown headpieces after I took this picture. I know you want one ... or two.

I still have a few extra items for sale at a yard sale hosted by Sparkle Skye Designs. I'll make deals if you want to buy/trade for things! The few rare items I had have already sold, though, so I have nothing fancy to trade. Maybe I'll trade someone an interview on my blog for a good item? Hey - that's worth something, maybe?*

*Yes, it is in fact worth something. Because, not only do I still have the highest monkey-to-post ratio of any other SL blog, I recently found out that I am on #10 on a list of 10 SL blogs.

Seven SL Facts About Me!

SL Fact #1 - Whenever I override a no-fly zone, I scream, "Yea! Take that! Nobody puts Baby in a corner! Vive la Révolution!" And then I shoot a gun off into the air.

SL Fact #2 - I wish I had picked a simpler spelling for my name. I could have gone with Timory, maybe? But would people would think I'm a man because of the "Tim" at the beginning? Tymory? But then people would pronounce it like "time" instead of "Tim" and it's also letter Y overkill. Tymri? Tymuree? Tymurry?

SL Fact #3 - Just as Janice Dickinson never tires of reminding people that she was the world's first Supermodel, I never tire of telling people that I was once the Face of Lesbian SexGen.

SL Fact #4 - When I started SL, I used to always wear underwear, even though it wasn't really necessary with glitch pants and all that. And now that panties actually come in handy under mesh skirts? I keep forgetting to put any on.

Adventures in Mesh

So, there was this blouse. A very pretty, cap sleeve, mesh blouse. A blouse I couldn't stop thinking about. Always the sensible person, I tried the demo. Ugh! the shoulders didn't fit quite right. (But ZOMG look at how good it makes my boobs look!)

I decided not to buy it. But, I kept thinking about how cute it was. I went back to the store and stared at it again. Then, I stormed out of the store cursing under my breath (read: TPd back home angrily). I repeated this about 5 more times before succumbing and just buying the blouse and resolving to make it work no matter what I had to do to my shape.

I fussed and fussed with my shape but ended up looking like I needed to be hooked up to an IV.:

Although my boobs still looks amazing, I don't look terribly healthy otherwise. And my spindly, little arms make my hands look like shovels in comparison.

I gathered my courage and IMd the creator - I sheepishly explained that, despite having tried the demo and having troubles, I still went ahead and bought the blouse because I loved it so much. I asked her for a new alpha layer and she very graciously sent me a new one.

But alas, I still have issues. I am not sure what to adjust on my shape to make this blouse work. If you have ideas, please let me know. I'd truly appreciate it - because I really want to wear this blouse!

Ram Tough

My husband Jerremy and I took a little day trip to the Grand Canyon.

Mostly, we went off-roading in an awesome looking Jeep. We would have preferred horseback riding, but we couldn't find a "horse dispenser." (Only in SL, amirite?) Jerremy drove but, although he is an excellent driver, driving any and all vehicles in SL is a miserable experience. We ran over a snake, hit a ram, and drove off of a cliff and landed in the Colorado River. More than once.

The Grand Canyon is actually a very fun place - it's several sims worth of skiing, rafting, camping, rock climbing, bungee jumping, etc. We'll have to come back to do more when I am wearing more appropriate shoes.

They also had a little tourist shop here near the landing spot where they had some Grand Canyon Ranger outfits for sale, but I wish they had cute souvenirs to purchase. Heck, I wish most scenic places in SL had souvenir shops that sold things like collectible mugs, t-shirts, baseball caps, posters, key chains, tote bags, etc.

This is the ram we hit. He's fine, though. We told him to just walk it off. And stay away from sim borders from now on.

I need you to do me a favor. Go to Erbeeren. Maybe bring a banana with you. Just stand there for a bit. Now, what do you hear?

I went there last night. It's described in the Destination Guide as "...a hidden grove in a strawberry forest." I expected to find strawberry things, a few freebies, and lots of woodland creatures. What did I find? Monkeys. You heard me correctly: monkeys. Monkeys are not native to hidden groves in strawberry forests.

Now, I didn't actually see the monkeys - but I heard them. They're out there. Perhaps all the glow here is providing them with camouflage. But, I know what I heard.

As you know, for years, this SL blog has had the highest monkey-to-post ratio of any other SL blog**, so I like to think I am a bit of an expert on what they sound like.

Please. Visit Erdbeeren. Listen for the chimps. And reassure me that I am not crazy.

I looked left. I looked right. I looked adorable.

Full House

Look at this picture and then look back at me. Then, look at the picture again and then be amazed that I still have 26 prims to play with.

I managed to make fewer than 117 prims look like a comfy home. Yay for me, yay for mesh.

We're only making due with this Linden Home until we find a really nice, new plot of sandy beach to buy/rent. My husband Jerremy is itching to throw prims all over the place. (And we want to host some elaborately decorated parties again.)

Downstairs, I have a home office, a kitchen, dining room, and a living room. (Please ignore the pose balls that I forgot to hide.) Upstairs, there's a bedroom, dressing area, and a bathroom. I did make one decorating compromise; the bathroom doesn't have a toilet. I'd spring for one, but we can just pee in the shower and save those prims for something else.

I've blogged about my first apartment/condo in SL and how I first learned to set up a home with the 100 prims I was limited to. Years later? I've still got low land impact skillzzzzzz.

Finding Foodstuffs

My constant hunt for adorable and delicious prim food has become more specific now - it's a hunt for mesh foods. Current research studies (my own) show that mesh foods are low in both carbohydrates and Land Impact (LI) values. And since I am currently residing in my LI-stingy Linden Home, I need all the low LI stuff I can get my hands on. (The terms 'LI' or 'Land Impact' don't quite roll off the tongue, do they? And PE? No - that's gym class. Can't we go back to saying prims? Sigh.)

During today's grocery search, I found this free set of table accessories at Incredible Edibles. So now, if you come over to my house you don't have to eat with your hands. While I was there, I also bought a few things including place settings, a TV tray, and an apron. They didn't have much in the way of "display food" that I can leave around to make the kitchen look lived in, but if you're up for a full meal, they have you covered.

This can't be the only mesh food place around can it? To be honest, I've found a couple of mesh foodstuffs at random places like clothing stores and furniture shops. But, I need something more substantial to eat than fast food and cotton candy.

I'll keep up my search because if it wasn't for my persistence, my avatar would starve or be forced to eat shoes out of her massive collection.

Late to the Show

Fine. I know that I am late to the party on some SL things since coming back form my break. But bear with me for just a bit longer until I get caught up. I only just now had a chance to visit the LEA Arts Festival!

These pictures are a bit of a 'Where's Waldo' - all because I wore a printed dress to go explore LEA. When we visited the LEA exhibits last night, we were just racing around mazes on scooters while "exploring mental illness" (??) so I didn't think it would matter what I wore tonight.

I've been exploring LEA over several nights with friends, and this exhibit (Ce N'est Pas Une Peinture) is by far my favorite. It's my fav not only because it is total brain candy, but because I've rubbed virtual elbows with avatar, Gracie Kendall, and the artist behind her, Kristine Schomaker, through Plurk! (Add me!)

I love that second photo enough to consider having it printed out onto a canvas and putting it up in my office. I like the pop-art feel that it has. It made me think that this sim might be a very cool setting for some artsy, nude photos. But, of course, I would never, ever in a million years do that. Nor would I encourage you to do something like that and share the pictures with us on a blog or something. But, if you accidentally teleported into the sim naked and then just happened to fall onto the snapshot button, I couldn't stop you.

Oh. Em. Gee. Is this one of those 'flying penises' I'm always hearing about??

Cracked.com recently published an article (5 Bizarre Ways Online Gaming is Affecting the Real World) in which SL was discussed. But sadly, the article featured some very old pictures (think 2007) and myths about the virtual, interactive world called Second Life. These misconceptions create a stigma that makes it very difficult for users to admit to RL friends, relatives and Cupid.com dates that SL is one of their hobbies. Therefore, I have taken it upon myself to address some of those falsehoods here (You're welcome!):

The Top Misconceptions about Second Life

1: No one plays SL anymore.
Wrong! But, there are only 32 of us. Long story short: it was late-2009; we were at a party; it got late; yadda, yadda, yadda; we got locked in. And they let us stay so long as we don't tell anyone.* Or ask to use the employee restroom.

~~2: SL is chock full of flying penises.~~
Wait. Hmmmm. Well, no disputing that. Never mind.

3: SL is a game.
SL is not a game at all. It's a brooch. It's a pterodactyl. It's a black hole for money and time. But, it's not a game.

4. There is nothing to do in Second Life.
You know what my boss down at the Dairy Queen used to say when I worked there as a teen? "If you have time to lean, you have time to sort your inventory." Or something like that. I forget. It's been a long time.

We did the Harlem Shake in Second Life.

Bouncer Criss - blogger and all around talented guy - put together a machinema of a bunch of SLifers (including yours truly) doing the Harlem Shake. See the Second Life version of the craze that's sweeping the land HERE! It's quite good, if I do say so myself. (If you're not familiar with the meme, here is some background.) Thank you for putting this together, Bouncer!!

I've included pictures of the spontaneous after-party that we had at the Pixel Bean Coffee House. We stayed in our costumes from the second half of the video. Anubis Darkwatch DJ'd. I wish I could have gotten more of us in the photos, but there were lots of us generating lots of lag and we eventually crashed the sim - so I am lucky to have been able to take these.

This sort of stuff? Is why I adore SL.

One of my friends, Eva Bonner, is behind me in the pop can rollers, preggo belly, and pink hot pants. You have to check out her moves during the video - she was hysterical to watch.

I didn’t inhale.

The other day, I got to hang out with some friends - both old and new. It was a very relaxed atmosphere -- as you can see by the all of the marijuana particles floating through the air.

My friend Haley couldn't see me because she's not a fan of mesh. I was just a bunch of blobs to her since I everything I has on was mesh. But, I was more than happy to explain just how adorable I actually looked.

I used to feel like Haley, but I since coming back from my little SL break, I find myself much more comfortable with the tiny shape adjustments that allow me to wear mesh. (Also, I wrote down all of my original shape numbers on an index card and stored that in a fire-proof safe in my RL home as extra "shape insurance.") Since Haley's favorite color is green, I consider it my duty to find an amazing green mesh outfit and/or hair that will lure her over to mesh-acceptance.

In the picture above, that's Haley on the top left in green, then, going counterclockwise, there's Orchid, me (in red), Marlee and Marlee's husband Silverthorne. DrFran joined us shortly after I took this picture and then the girls all posed for a Relay for Life (RFL) vendor picture.

That's me on the far left. If you squint, you can sort of make out the rose crowns we're wearing in this behind-the-scenes picture. The crown is the item that will be sold in the RFL vendor.

Now, off to search for beautiful GREEN things!

Blown Away

By the way, am I missing something? Isn't it possible to click on a destination on the log-in screen and log in at that place? I clicked this destination like a crazy person but couldn't manage to log in there. I'm sure that if I had clicked some adult hub by accident, I would have TD'd there without any problems, though.

I'm not sure why I haven't seen three billion fashion blog posts with pictures taken here yet. Since there is nothing a fashion blogger loves more than a black and white sim that goes with every outfit, I am thrilled that I beat the rush (?).

Dazzle with a Raffle

Pretend that it isn't almost Valentine's/Mardi Gras/Lent and that we are still talking about New Year's resolutions. My only RL resolution was to wear more accessories -- something at which I have been wildly successful so far. I have several SL ~~New~~ Year's Resolutions for 2013. In SL, I am trying to stick to a $Linden budget, use voice more often, and to wear more accessories.

As for that last one, I'm getting a good start with the necklace I'm wearing in the picture above. I got it at MG Jewellery for $299 Lindens. Who has two thumbs and accidentally clicks on the first place under 'What's Hot Now' in the Destination Guide? This girl. That's how I ended up in Adult Hub Central tonight. Really.

It is 'under reconstruction', apparently, which explains why they had much nicer furniture there than I expect at most Adult themed places. And they had bundt cake. That's pretty damned classy, if you ask me. (However, being Adult Hub, that icing looked a little suspicious so I didn't eat any.)

It turns out that Adult Hub Central wasn't such a bad place to end up, because I met Gazcc there. He came over said hi to me and we started chatting. I asked him how to pronounce his name, but we weren't using voice so all I know is that the second C is silent.

That's Gazcc sitting in the chair across from me. He said it was ok if I took a picture of us and used it on my blog. He wasn't happy about the chair making him slouch, so I think that he would appreciate it if I let you know that he has much better posture in person. Of course, shameful slouching is the ideal posture to adopt in most adult places in SL.

Gazcc proposed that we go into business together as professional party guests. So, if you are having a party soon and you want to make sure the place is hopping, let us know. I'm sure you will love our reasonable rates!

Hi - This is a quick post to warn people about an avatar named cca helix / Abbey Wixson.

Apparently, this person has been approaching creators and store owners and telling them that she is my alt or is associated with this blog and she is demanding freebies and review copies. She is telling lies - I do not use alts and I do not ask for review copies/freebies. My "review policy" is right there on my sidebar! No one else besides me writes on this blog (except for once when Jerremy Darwin did a guest post). If this person contacts you, please do not believe her and do not give her freebies or review copies.

I have reported her to Linden Lab twice already for 'Harassment - defaming individuals' because she is harming my reputation as a blogger.

I took this picture a couple of weeks ago and didn't get the chance to use it before others blogged the place. Now, I don't care that someone else blogged it - but I want people to know that I went there on my own, dammit! I looked in the Destination Guide just like they did!
