-db- Rockstar Princess Skybox

It’s finally done. I know I took forever and a day, but I think it was worth it! This is for all the ladies out there that begged for a hotpink skybox…you definitely got your wish Hmm, where do I start? Well, this box is basically a playground for ladies (& bois) that love fun, color, & attention to detail. It’s based off of a teen bedroom that I saw in real life and decided that I had to bring it to Second Life. It’s filled with cute animations that will most certainly make you smile. I won’t go into great detail about every little feature of this box.  What I will do is share some pics that I had fun taking in this bedroom.  If you’d like a run down of what it offers, visit the SL Marketplace where you can get more details and even purchase it if you’re inclined.
If you need a place to hang out with a girlfriend, or would like a place that’s great for taking playful pics, this box is perfect for you. There are gossip and friendship animations on the window seat that are great for sharing secrets What a great closet and use of space, eh? … Read the rest

Spotted: “Dirty Ass Kitchen” Featured on Pixel Phasion Blog!

It’s great to see Dirty Boxes being used for one of the things that it was created for, the Role-playing community within Second Life. Fashion Blogger and Second Life photographer, Bouncer Criss, is the creator and owner of a fashion blog with a twist, Pixel Phasion 4 Men. Not only does he take beautiful and detailed photos of custom content in world and show it off to residents via his blog, but he also does it while adding a fictional storyline with it as well! This week, Bouncer’s blog featured the final chapter to an ongoing story regarding the infamous “Jason” from the Friday the 13th series, versus Bouncer himself! One of the products highlighted in his blog was Dirty Boxes’ very own “Dirty Ass Kitchen Set” from the “Effed Up Basement” Collection.
This set is perfect for anyone within the RP community looking to create a scene, or for someone into heavy grunge. It includes countertops, fridge, stove, dishwasher and sink.… Read the rest

-db- EFFED UP Basement Skybox

After seeing this skybox, a friend asked me what made me create such a nasty hole in the wall. Believe it or not, I used to role play with a guy who shall remain nameless, that told me he lived in his parents basement while playing video games and gaming in Second Life. In my mind, I always imagined him in a place like this, so I decided to create it! This box was created with the roleplayer in mind, with attention to detail. There’s lots for the user to interact with…working lights, sounds, animations for appliances and furniture…even running water and a working microwave!
I tried to be mindful of prims, but I didn’t want to be stingy with the build.
This basement is the epitome of grunge. It’s the largest build that I’ve done so far with four fully furnished rooms. The box has a realistic feel, with filthy wall and floor textures, you can almost smell the mold and feel the dankness in the air. As great as this box is, there will always be some that don’t want the entire box, but like individual pieces from the box.… Read the rest

-db- Fire Barrel Bum Hangout

This grungy hangout is a perfect compliment to the FREE Homeless Box from -db- and is great for anyone looking to have a little fun with their friends. I created this with more than just a couple of poses because I often see Fire Barrels in world, and most of them are just for a couple of people. Testing this with my friends, I found out you can get at least seven people on this hangout piece at once! I can just see it now, a bunch of SLFers role playing as bums, hanging out around the old barrel talking about the good old times. There are eight animations all together, six for singles and one couple pose. You can either roast marshmallows around the fire or use my personal favorite, THE RATS! Yes, I know, but don’t ask! Go to the back alley of the DIRTY BOXES store in world to see it up close and play with for awhile.
Visit the Second Life Marketplace to purchase.

-db- Homeless Box – Store Gift

So, do you like it? I’m giving this homeless box away as a promotional gift, hoping it will bring more attention to -db- Yes, again with the grunge, I know, but it’s what I’m feeling right now. I looked at other cardboard boxes for the homeless in Second Life before making this one, and what I noticed was that no one really made anything that you’d actually -want- to hang out in. My goal was to make something affordable, cute enough for girls but manly enough for guys, and definitely something that could be used in the Role Playing community. It comes with a grungy mattress with unisex poses
a candle to light your way during the darkest hours that actually gives off light and that you can turn on/off …and a little mouse that squeaks when you touch him. Hope you guys enjoy Visit DIRTY BOXES in world to see the Homeless Box up close.
Purchase it in the Second Life Marketplace, and leave a review if you like it.

-db- Health Class Skybox

So as I’ve said before, often times I create things based on what I’ve seen in my first life. This classroom was a memory of my third grade class! It then makes it a little humorous that I added a bit of naughtiness to the decor. The classroom has a health theme with posters on the wall dealing in matters such as nutrition, bullies, and of course, sex. Some of the wall art definitely makes one chuckle at it’s take on teen sexuality but believe it or not, some of it is actually educational. I could have made it even more risque than it already is, but for me, it wasn’t about complete and utter sleaze as we often see in Second Life. I wanted it to be tasteful but still fun and entertaining. It’s made in a way that allows the buyer to add or delete to the entire theme as they see fit. Posters can be removed, and chalk boards can be made blank so that users can make their own theme if they’d like. Have you ever been in a real life class room setting and seen some of the ceiling lights that have been blown out long ago?… Read the rest

-db- Glamour Girl Vanity Table

This table is from the “Glamour Girl” skybox collection and personally a favorite of mine. Initially, I wasn’t going to sell this piece separately from the skybox, but later on decided otherwise. It’s a simple design, yet has so much to offer. It’s perfect for the girl that likes to stare in the mirror for hours and has lovely feminine animations to compliment it. The table has props inside that a girl can hold while performing each animation. If you look closely, there are naughty little references on certain products that are included. For example, the face cream jar that girls hold while applying it is named “White Honey” for those that like to be daring! The tissue box on the table is named “Sticky Fingers” for girls (or boys!) that have little accidents The makeup on the table is well made and allows the buyer to change the color with a simple touch. Little details are included to give the table an even more ‘girly’ feel with the single stemmed rose in a vase and the “Second Style” Magazine (which has actually be around for awhile).… Read the rest

Dorm Room Collections

There’s a trend picking up in the Role Playing community for High School and College role play in Second Life and I can definitely understand why.  There’s something sweet and nostalgic about reliving your high school and college days, and having the pleasure of doing so through someone else.  Your days can be filled with parties, hot co-eds, and decadence…all with NO consequence. With that in mind, I decided to create a couple of dorm rooms for students, a male and female version.  Being a dork, the television show “Heroes” was a favorite of mine.  We all remember “Claire the Cheerleader” don’t we?  Well, during her college years they’d often show her whining in her dorm room about some teen angst issue.  The DIRTY BOXES  “Glamour Girl” and “Boi Dorm” were both modeled after her room.  The decorations aren’t the same of course, but it’s where I got my inspiration.… Read the rest

noTell moTel Skybox

A Grungy Motel Skybox for Second Life It seems fitting that since this was my very first creation in skyboxes, that this should be my very first entry This motel room is actually true to life.  It’s one that I’ve seen before in my first life and was never able to erase it from my mind.  As a Role Player in Second Life, I would wish someone would be kind enough to make a tiny little get away like this one.  There were some out there, but non that fit what it was that I was looking for.  So I created this and decided to share with the rest of the community.  I got a lot of positive feedback regarding it and decided to keep going with ideas. When I first started SL, I was more interested in contemporary furnishings.  However, during my RPing years, grunge started influencing my taste more and more.  I loved the filth and how dark and grungy everything appeared.  It now influences a lot of my current creations with DIRTY BOXES. In this skybox, the floors are stained, the walls damaged, and the furniture a little run-down. … Read the rest"noTell moTel skybox"
