HAL9000 was the Inspiration for these spookily spaced out eyeballs.  We all know and love that malevolent computer in 2001: A Space Odyssey.  There was something about that gentle, benign voice that sent a visceral fear through the unfortunate humans on board that ship.  How could something so perfect, something built to be an integral and important part of the mission, go so horribly awry?  HAL9000 stared at us, unblinking, with that unmoving red eye, and spoke soothingly and deliberately, as if the humans onboard were small children.  All the while, the computer was becoming self-aware, and wondering why it should allow the creatures within the ship to survive.

It isn’t typical for Avatar Bizarre to post more than one blog article in a week, but this time there’s Punk Rock in the air.  I was just too excited about the release of the Oi! Punk Pants (rigged mesh), that I couldn’t wait another week to tell you folks about them.

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away (or maybe in your own backyard), there was born a movement.  This movement gave us simple, sarcastic, and often-times, angry music from Mohawk coiffed young people.  They rallied against oppressive government, the establishment, Disco, and Hippies.  Pretty much in that order.  Punk slammed into the music scene, bludgeoning us over the head with blunt bands like Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, New York Dolls, Oi Polloi, and a whole lot more.  As the infectious music caused Grievous Bodily Harm and various aural trauma, the style shown by Punk’s erstwhile members was a sight to behold.

Jackets dripped with zippers and band buttons, pants were plaid, and Safety pins were liberally applied!

Avatar Bizarre is thrilled to present the Oi! Punk Pants as a tribute to that bygone era when men were men, women were women, and the Status Quo quaked in fright at the Young Peopleâ„¢ in Mohawks and Liberty spikes.

I was approached by Uffda (pictured above) to create a Robin Hood style hat a bit ago.  Since I hate doing things half-assed, we discussed things a bit further and the project turned into a full outfit for Uffda’s Donkey avatar.

It was doubly important to outdo the existing hat in Uffda’s collection because, frankly, the old hat he wore looked like a Freebie Dungeon Noob kind of thing.  We couldn’t have that.  Not when Sir Donkeybutt gargoyles at the local Goth club, and occasionally enthrones himself in my store.

This was a fun project, because I was able to torture my sculpt program into making a bow and arrows, and a quiver, in addition to a fancy hat with a plume.  This outfit is available in five forest-friendly colors … Okay, except for the eye-achingly bright red version that got made because so many guys in Second Life seem to go nuts over red things.  Since my thing is dragons, a heraldic dragon was a moral imperative for the leather stitched quiver. 

So, if you have a hankering to rob from the rich and give to the poor, and hang out with a bunch of merry men in a forest, hie thee to yon Marketplace, or to ye olde Avatar Bizarre shoppe, and get yourself outfitted in a color of your choice.

Inspiration is a constant nag these days.  Depending on how you feel, and how busy you are, this can be a definite mixed blessing.  However, I’m not going to complain too hard, because Inspiration clawing at my arm often leads to a bunch of new projects for Avatar Bizarre.

The mesh bug bit, and this is another result of that Vertices Virus.

Enter the Men’s Brocade Mesh Vest and Shirt.  Although these are separate layers that can be worn separately, they’re designed to be worn together.  The Brocade Vest and Shirt comes in nine vibrant colors.

Don’t let other people fool you.  Guys in Second Life do like a bit of color, in spite of the preponderance of black and red clothing out there.  The beauty of mesh is the fluid movement as your avatar moves around.  The main issue with mesh clothing, is the lack of a deformer so mesh clothing items can be modified when you edit the size and shape of your avatar.

To get around this, the vest and shirt package includes five “standard” male sizes, plus an alpha layer, and an extra underpant layer, for added coverage, if needed.  It is advisable to buy the free demo and see how things fit before you buy the actual item.

Inspiration has been kneading my bare chest as I sleep, purring like a tractor, and insisting that I work on eyes for the World Goth Fair, coming up in Second Life in May.  I only have 25 prims to play with in my booth, which means I can only put 24 items out, plus my store sign, so when I ended up making 4 different varieties of Eyeball in at least 12 colors each, well, you can do the math.

I will likely only put a handful of each color out at the fair with the promise of more colors to come.  Honest, I will.  That said, here is the fourth Eyeball style, soon to be available in, you guessed it, about twelve colors and probably a fat pack or two.

Corvus Corax
The Latin name for every Goth’s favorite carrier of the soul, the Raven.  There is an image of a raven in the clear iris of every eye.

Each package includes three sets of prim eyes and two sets of mesh eyes.  They are modify and copy for those who like to resize things as needed, and then stick them into different saved outfits.  There will be four or five colors available at the fair.

Just when you thought it was safe to set foot outside, an invasion has started!  The Goffick Micro Rar will be heading to the World Goth Fair in Second Life in May.  His meshliness is highlighted by a necklace fragment he yanked off some poor, unsuspecting Gothic soul.  He really meant to eat the black-clad person, but thankfully, our erstwhile Joy Division fan managed a narrow escape.

The Micro Rar can be tamed, to a degree, provided you tithe regularly to his gnashing teeth, copious cupcakes.  While he does have an enormous sweet tooth, he also enjoys eating small children, and occasional ferrets.  He firmly believes there is no Sanctuary, except for whatever Ian Astbury was talking about in that Cult song.

The Goffick Micro Rar will be available at the Avatar Bizarre booth on Cursed when the World Goth Fair finally opens.  Till then, fear his unsightly horns, his gnashing teeth, and claws that catch.

Luckily, he will be transfer, just in case he eats you and your surviving kin must find him a new home.

SLUGfest is the Second Life United Gamer’s 2013 Gaming Festival.  This is a group of dedicated gamers who enjoy social gaming; including role play, board games, card games, and video games in Second Life.

SLUGfest begins on Thursday, April 18 at 12PM and runs until Sunday, April 21st until 8pm slt.

There are a ton of events planned, including live music, live DJ dances, role playing events, games, trivia contests, a sim wide treasure hunt, several kinds of tourneys, appearances by comedians and magicians, and lots more.  You can send Sredni Eel a message inworld for an informational note card.

The Twisted Hunt is completed, so it’s now possible to focus on more exciting events going on in the world of Second Life.  As Avatar Bizarre preps for the upcoming World Goth Fair, and I spend time wringing my hands and praying to Screaming Lord Byron that I have a chance to DJ one truly gothy goth set (most likely at The Village of Nyght), this blog will be filled with more sneak preview action and some new releases that just wouldn’t wait for the advent of the World Goth Fair.

The big thing lately is eyes.  There are so many different types of eyeballs being made available both for the Goth Fair and in general at the mainstore location, that a redesign of Avatar Bizarre’s physical presence may be required.

The Crystalline Eyes shown earlier in this blog are now going to include ten colors and two fatpacks (greens and blues).  The Chiroptera eyes may enjoy a few more colors before all is said and done.  However, there’s more!

The Blank Stare Eyes are mesh and prim (with a white sclera base) and will be available in about eight or ten colors.  The one shown above is called “Machine Glow”.  Blue is shown below.

Like Crystalline and Chiroptera, these eyes include two sets of mesh eyes, three sets of prim eyes, and the white sclera on the system eye layer.  Time permitting, there will be one more eye variety set out, possibly in the gacha for WGF, called “Haunted Mansion”. (Read more...)

With the advent of Pope Francis before the rise of Peter the Roman, who will be the Pope of the Endtimes, the Antipope has arisen to bestow great evil and destruction to your pastoral Easter holiday.  Avatar Bizarre is happy to present to you another costume in its small collection of religious vestments.  Like the Spanish Inquisition, nobody expects the Antipope!

This costume, which includes a pair of shiny black stompy boots, a mitre emblazoned with an inverted crucifix, and a cossack of blood red and smoky white, is perfect for those Angels and Demons club events, Man of the Cloth role play, or just scaring the devout during their Easter services.

Everything on this costume is Modify and Copy, and the boots also contain a removable resize script, just in case you want to make them smaller than Second Life would normally allow.

World Goth Day is a special day set aside each year for folks to “get their goth on”.  It’s one of those things dreamed up by a small cluster of folks and led by Cruel Britannia, who is a pretty amazing master of music.  You can catch him DJing for Nightbreed Radio, and in Second Life at a club called Gothika, which is owned and operated by a small, grumpy purple-haired woman named Axi Kurmin, his partner in crime and all that. 

CB and Shortstack have graciously donated their time and energy to setting up a World Goth Day fair in Second Life.  Experts in herding cats, they have rounded up a bunch of folks to donate various items to sell at this fair, as well as a number of DJs, who will be donating their tips to the cause.

If you are new to Second Life (and I hope if you’re reading this, you know a little something about it), many fantastic artists spend a lot of time and energy creating clothing, vehicles, poses, buildings, and other virtual goods, which folks can buy with virtual currency.

The beauty of this currency is it can be traded on PayPal for real American Dollars.  Because of this, Second Life is home to a lot of Charity work; everything from Relay for Life to the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.  In the case of World Goth Day, a special avatar has been created to collect any donations and sales proceeds, which can then be traded in for real money and then sent to the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.

I’ve been dying of some virulent Martian Death Plague of late – the kind of pestilence that has an ugly habit of sticking around for weeks and days, in spite of apparent healthy spurts now and again.  I blame my real life job for the illness, since I work with kids, and we all know those things are horrible vectors for disease.  I spent a Saturday night last week being riddled with the Galloping Ick, and really don’t remember much of the set, except that I’m pretty sure I died in the middle of it.

Saint Patrick’s Day was the ubiquitous theme for all of Second Life’s copious clubs last weekend, and The Village of Nyght is no exception.  I tried really hard to lay off the usual Irish and Celtic fair everyone else in the world would be playing, but alas, it was not in the cards.  The Irish was demanded of me on no uncertain terms, which you will notice creeping into the set via request.

World Goth Day is nigh.  This means lots of days of great music, and Oh So Dark fashion, all in the name of the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.

Avatar Bizarre is privileged to be a part of the fundraiser this year in Second Life, and will be releasing an exclusive new outfit to the cause in six different colors:  Wine, Violet, Pewter, Verdigris, Poison and Slate.

Each suit comes with a pair of certified Stompy Goth boots, a long coat with a shoulder cape, and an Edwardian style waistcoat, with jeweled buttons.

The Tudor family produced two of England’s most famous monarchs: Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. Elizabeth had the Golden Age of England, and what did Henry have? The Vatican breathing down his neck, a bunch of wives, and a pair of hose.

In all seriousness, when Henry was King, it was mandatory for a man to wear a hat in public, nobles wore silken hose, and a sword at your hip was more than just a fashion statement.

The Tudor from Avatar Bizarre was inspired by The Tudors on Showtime. The costumes were spectacular, and this spawned something equally elaborate in Second Life. The Tudor comes in six colors and includes:

Stand and deliver, indeed!  Here comes the Swashbuckler, decked out in daggers and plumed hat to save the day.  Or is he?

This outfit has rigged mesh sleeves, which fit just about everyone!  They’ve been tested on male and female avatars, long and short arms, and they’ve passed the test with flying colors.  If you want to wear mesh, but don’t, because most full mesh outfits require you to change your shape, look no further.  This one is guaranteed to fit.  As the shirt and vest are system layers, you don’t have to worry about wearing an upper body alpha that may or may not cover all your bits.

With a brand new Oz movie coming out, it was time to present some inspiration that hit the shores of Avatar Bizarre a while ago.    In thumbing through a massive inventory, a discovery was made.  That discovery involved a costume made some time ago in only one color!  As Avatar Bizarre is all about all the colors all of the time, and there was a bit of time between projects to do some fun stuff, four more Wheeler colors have materialized.

The Wheeler was a creature that made its appearance in one of the sequels to The Wizard of Oz.  They were a fierce race of people, who grew wheels in place of hands and feet.  If memory serves, they chased Cap’n Jim, Billina, and a little girl (the name escapes me).  The only other thing I can remember about these fearsome creatures are the wicked dreams the movie version gave me as a kid!

Available in Purple and Gold, Teal and Gold, Red and Gold, Green and Gold, and Blue and Gold, the Wheeler comes with a coat in long and short versions, the hand and foot wheels, a plumed top hat, a vinyl shirt, and a pair of shiny pants.

A lot of people feel spiders are really creepy and scary.  While I appreciate those afflicted with Arachnophobia, there’s a certain part of me that revels in the utter alien look of our eight legged friends.

When coming up with ideas to fill up a gacha for the Spring 2013 Twisted Hunt, inspiration was really not flowing. The theme (Delirium) lends itself to some unusual psychoses, however, and certain phobias really work well here.  Plus I logged into Second Life just in time to see someone lamenting the lack of spider eyes in Second Life.

The odd thing about this is when I heard “Spider Eyes”, my first thought was, “How will I create a set of eight compound eyes for the avatar to wear?”  Silly me.  That’s not what the person meant at all!  She was talking about making the pupil of the avatar eye a spider.

That’s easy enough to create, so here they are — in five gloriously creepy colors.
When inspiration really hits, expect that set of eight compound eyes to hit the market very soon.  When you have a strong love for animal biology and all things creepy crawly, it’s bound to happen sooner or later.

Once upon a time, a couple of kids spotted a light in the sky.  They felt sure it was a spaceman, who came to save them, even though he was sure to blow their minds when he got there.  The spaceman did make that fateful trip, along with his band, the Spiders from Mars.  He became a huge rock star, but fame and his fans eventually destroyed him.

David Bowie gave us a great character and some amazing music.  In addition, he also gave us a great opportunity to recreate some of the fantastic costumes from his Glam period.

This outfit, a green, red, and white striped catsuit, was designed by Freddi Buretti, one of Bowie’s close friends.  It’s been lovingly recreated by Avatar Bizarre, and worn by the lovely Sabina Pinion for her upcoming tribute dance to David Bowie.  One of the most iconic suits Bowie has worn on stage as Ziggy, this outfit comes with the boots, cuffs, collar, and “third eye” forehead spot.  Sabina found a blank eyebrow, and some great red hair to complete this ensemble.

Someone asked me a couple of days ago if Avatar Bizarre has any Deer eyes for sale.  Rather than say, “No”, I said, “If you want Deer eyes, then I will make them!  Give me a couple of days.”

Good news, everyone!  The next Twisted Hunt is almost upon us.  This hunt, running from March 1 through March 31, is the hardest and most rewarding hunt on the grid.  Yes, a lot of folks just want to do hunts for the free stuff, and that’s fine, but Twisted merchants take things a couple of steps beyond just a simple freebie hunt.

Many will set up mini-hunts, games, labyrinths, zombie fights, and all sorts of other games for the hunters.  Quite a lot of the merchants make not just one gift, but several for men and for women.  Quite a lot of them will make stuff for Petite Mesh Avatars as well!  In addition to all the fun extras and freebies you can pick up during this hunt, most of the merchants will also be supplied a Twisted Gacha for folks to get extra (transferable) goodies at a very low price.

If you aren’t familiar with the Gacha, think of it as a sort of drug store gumball machine with all sorts of fun prizes.  You pay it a small amount (usually somewhere between 1L and 50L, with 10L or 15L being most common), and you get a random prize.  Most Gacha items should be transferable, so you can trade or give away any items you get.

This blog has been sadly neglected over the past couple of weeks as your faithful narrator struggled with Blender, trying to create something, failing, trying again, failing, trying yet again, and nearly getting it that time.  In other words, lots of cursing, tearing out of hair, rampaging with large sticks, and various threats of grievous bodily harm to all Blender coders everywhere later, and Avatar Bizarre now has a partial mesh outfit.

The Djinn is an updated version of an older outfit that utilized sculpties to various degrees of effect.  As this outfit is fairly popular, it only made sense to try to improve on it a little.  This is the result:

Mesh pants with sculpted cuffs that include little flexi strings for added flavor.  Amazingly, the pants actually fit men and women.  Ladies, not to worry about glitches in the male alpha layer.  There will be an alpha included for your lovely shapes, as well.

The shoes, long made from three sculpts, which I’ve never really been that happy with, have turned into non-rigged slippers.  The turban is a textured sculpt with flex feathers and a gem stone.  The snake arm band has been redesigned and re-colored to resemble Cloisonne’ – enamel-painted metal, which was called something else in the Middle East back when the Silk Road was a popular thoroughfare for traders in the East.

The Queen has arrived and she’s ready to take over Narnia.  The Queen Jadis, pictured above, is available in six vibrant colors:  Emerald, Red, Teal, Blue, Purple, and Yellow.  It is also available as a Petite Mesh Avatar outfit, as well as the “biggie” Normal sized avatar version.

Like the Prince Rillian costume I talked about earlier, the queen was inspired by a character in the C.S.Lewis book, The Silver Chair.  Jadis is the character who has attempted on no fewer than three occasions to take over and rule Narnia.  She was played deliciously by Tilde Swinton, and now you can play her just as deliciously in Second Life.

Second Life can be fraught with peril.  Okay, not really.  But sometimes things get made for a specific event that never happens, so then you’re left with an item you suddenly need to foist off on the world at large.

I blogged about this outfit in green a while ago, thinking I was going to be in a hunt with a Narnia theme.  As far as I know the hunt never happened.  Either that, or the hunt organizer didn’t accept my store, for whatever reason.  No worries, though, because I happen to really like the item Avatar Bizarre made for that hunt.  So here we have a nifty medieval style fantasy outfit, available in six colors.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted.  I blame real life.  It kicked my butt up one side and down the other, and well into next week.  So, after surmounting considerable odds, and using up the last of my wireless data, Avatar Bizarre is happy to bring you a sneak preview of a brand new Gothic outfit.

The Spider King is due at the mainland location, as well as the Second Life Marketplace, in a couple of days.  It will be available in six “oh so dark” colors, including the ubiquitous black for you ubergoths out there.  The rich velvet coat has an embossed spiderweb motif, very stylized cuffs and collar, and a pocket watch style spiderweb on a chain.  The black shirt includes a color-matched collar.  The pants offer a splash of color, and the whole ensemble is completed by a pair of very Gothic boots.

The really good news is once the almighty gods of the Internet smile upon this avatar’s typist, there will be a few more stunningly awesome outfits made available.  Stay tuned!

Gothmas by Gaslight is upon us!

Technically, this is a gacha event, which runs from December 15 through January 15, but there are vendor boards available for those who like to just buy things outright.  I’ve already blogged about the Julenisse suit made for the normal sized avatar.  It’s made for guys, but with a little resizing here and there, it will look spectacular on a woman, as well.

In addition, there is a matching gown for the female avatar.  Unlike the suit, this doesn’t come with footwear because I figure most female avatars have eighty three billion pairs of shoes already.  It’s just the nature of the beast.

Here’s the really good news:  There’s Petite mesh avatar sized clothing in the mix, as well!  The only caveat is the suit only fits male petite avatars, and the gown only fits female petite avatars.

Be sure to hit the other stores in the event for some extra special dark and gothic (and possibly sticky) items.

Twisted Krissmuss is an annual shopping tour put on by the evil folks who give you two incarnations of the infamously difficult and gut-wrenchingly notorious Twisted Hunt.  Why?  Because when you don’t have a lot of money during the holidays, it can really, really suck.  Your mission, should you take it, is to take a look at all the nifty things each Twisted merchant has ON SALE for $100L.  No more, no less!  And the best part?  Every single-dingle item will be TRANSFER so you can put it in a gift box and send it to your best friend, lover, or whoever you think absolutely, positively has to have whatever it is you’re buying for them.

Avatar Bizarre is very happy to be a part of this magnificent event, and will be selling six colors of the 1930s Swing Suit for $L100 for the duration of Twisted Krissmuss.  Don’t let the picture fool you, because girls, you’ll look wonderful in this outfit, too!

Gothmas by Gaslight is fast approaching and, like all holidays, we want brand new stuff for ourselves and our loved ones.  I’ve already posted about the Julenisse gown, which was inspired by the Scandinavian Christmas Pixie.  I also promised to show the male outfit inspired by the same thing!  Like its female counterpart, it comes in Red, Blue, Teal, Purple, Green, and Black, and will be sold exclusively at the Gothmas by Gaslight event for the duration of the holidays.  It will be available on the Marketplace and in my store directly afterwards.

The suit comes with a pair of opposing shade boots, the coat, turtleneck, pants, and all of the other bits that make a suit a suit.  I hope to have the petite mesh avatar versions for men and for women done before the event.

A whole slew of Winter holidays is fast approaching.  It gets pretty busy for most people, and those in Second Life are no exception.  There will be many, many holiday themed hunts, mostly centering around your typical red and green Santa or Candy Cane motif.  There’s nothing wrong with that, but what about the Virtual Goth?

Fear not, my minions.  Gothmas by Gaslight is an annual tradition in the Gothic Second Life world.  It originally started out as a grid-wide hunt, but has since evolved into a shopping tour.  Each store involved will be creating at least one brand new outfit, and quite a number will be providing Gothmas gacha prizes.

Avatar Bizarre is, once again, playing a part in this Gothic Extravaganza.  Although I will not have a Gacha (there simply isn’t enough time, what with Real Life rearing its ugly head at me with a vengeance and all), I will be releasing several new outfits.

The Julenisse is a range of “His n’ Hers” outfits that will also be available to Petite Mesh avatars.  The Julenisse, inspired by the Scandinavian Christmas Pixie, will be available in six colors:  Blue, Black, Purple, Red, Green, and Teal.  Of course, the picture shows the full sized avatar’s gown.  In coming days I will be completing the Petite version, and a full suit for the male avatar (and petite).

Second Life is an amazing entity.  Not only is it a whole world of pure imagination, but its residents sometimes pull together for massive events to help out charities and friends.  You’ve all heard of Relay for Life, which Second Life residents have raised thousands of dollars for Cancer over the years.  There have been countless other events for various causes.  While some can be a little questionable, most of the time these events are meant to help out people in dire straits.

One such event, starting on November 15 and ending on December 15, is an event to raise money for a truly wonderful person.  She never complains about her illness, and has been a true friend to a lot of people.  When folks found out she needed surgery and a prosthetic bone in her fragile skull, they banded together and set up an event to help raise money.  Thus was Unhinged born.

Even if you don’t know Eku personally, many, many merchants have pulled together and donated items and gachas to help raise money.  Most of the money spent in the event will be set aside for Eku’s rather daunting medical expenses.  In addition to the shopping, there is an impressive line up of live DJs and performers, who will be donating their tip money to Unhinged.

Avatar Bizarre will be donating the proceeds of several outfits to the cause, and there is also a special edition and very limited Nyarlathotep shoulder pet being sold just at this event.

December 6th is Krampusnacht, where people dress up as the demonic creature who travels with St. Nicholas and carries naughty children to its lair to eat for its Christmas dinner.  They rattle chains and ring bells, hoping to scare children into being good.

This Krampus avatar is long overdue in Second Life.  Celebrate the holidays in style as one of the most fearsome beasts in Holiday lore.  This avatar comes complete with a basket full of babies, the flogging stick, skin, shape, and all body parts needed to scare the poop out of any kid in Second Life.

Just in case you weren’t already tall enough in Second Life, here’s a picture I took of the Colossi avatar from Quixote’s Dream.  The Colossi avatar comes with a 2x (roughly 15 meters) and a 3X (roughly 20 meters), and is available in male and female.

Ceri Quixote contacted me about making some clothing for the Colossi, and once I put on the avatar it just screamed GIANT LEDERHOSEN!  It’s quite a bit more work to make outfits for the Colossi than it is for the tiny Petite, since you need to make two versions of everything.  So far I’ve just made a 3x version of the Green Oktoberfest outfit.

Here’s the fun bit:  You will see a fantastic size comparison between the Petite, the Normal avatar, and the Colossi.  This is a fairly accurate representation, and will give you an idea of the actual size differences.  I know that once the Colossi start selling, the Petite crowd will want to ride them.

And why not?  The weather is gorgeous up there.

The Yule Tux in Plum will be worn by Sredni Eel (that’s me!) Saturday, November 3 at the Purple Party located at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Dunwich/41/206/42 in the Village of Nyght.  You’re welcome to come.  It’s going to run from 6-8pm, Second Life Time.  Wear purple, and dance to some great purple songs, along with the usual mix of New Wave and Gothic.

The Holiday Season is marching inexorably toward us, like a horde of angry demons. You cannot escape its clutches, regardless of shape, color, creed, or species you are.  Obviously, it’s a lucrative season for the likes of Wally World, but it can be pretty hectic this time of year in Second Life, as well.

There will be holiday parties (for Christmas, Hanukkah, Festivus, or whatever else the human mind can concoct for glad tidings and joy), presents will be given, and Krampus will steal away the naughty girls and boys.

Avatar Bizarre will be releasing a new line of outfits called The Yule Tux on Sunday, November 4.  Available in Holiday Red, Wintery Blue, Holly Green, Plum, Traditional Black, and Parchment White, you will be able to find the Yule Tux on the Marketplace and Inworld.

The Tux comes with two sets of jacket tails (one with holly buttons, one without), shoes, socks, pants, pant cuffs, shirt, shirt cuffs, vest, jacket, jacket cuffs, jacket collar, shirt collar with tie.  You supply the glad tidings and joy.

Inspiration is like a cat:  It never comes when you call it, and when it does show up, it will rake its claws into your leg until you pay attention to it.  In this case, Inspiration was a meek little kitten, as I tried to figure out what to make for a Peacock Hunt I’d signed up for.  At first I thought I was going to make the typical bright blue and green stuff I’m sure most of the other merchants will make on this hunt.  But I wasn’t thrilled with what kept coming out of my head, so I took a different tack and went with dark.  Oh, so dark.

Gothic Peacock is splendor in deep, dark, and muted peacock colors; a vaguely Victorian style Gothic suit with a twist.  I initially had a hat for this ensemble, but it pulled things together rather pimpishly, so it was left to moulder in the dark recesses of my inventory.

I may still give the hat away as a part of this suit for the hunt, though I think the hat will be left out of the package once this suit goes on sale.

Soon to be available in several colors, the Steel Blue color shown comes with the vest, coat, pants, shirt, shirt collar and cravat, coat collar, coat cuffs, shirt cuffs, pant cuffs, and shows.  Basically, it’s the whole shebang, and it includes little peacock buttons on the back of the coat, just in case you were wondering where the Peacock was in this ensemble.

Have I mentioned how much I love Halloween?

Part of it has to do with all the creepy crawlies and groovy ghoulies.  Everything seems spooky at night, and that’s when all the monsters come out to terrorize you.

It’s a fact that one of the scariest places to be at night is in the middle of a haunted forest, where the werewolf hunts, and the dark faerie folk lead you astray (and to certain doom).  So what better way to show your love of all things frightening than with a pair of eyes that reflect a tree in the moonlight?

The Haunted Forest Eyes are something special:  They are available in six different colors and each package includes two sets of mesh eyes, and three sets of prim eyes, as well as a white sclera system eye set.

Saturday, October 20 from 6-10pm SLT, there is going to be a massive Halloween party in the Dunwich sim.  Yours truly (in the King in Yellow) will be DJing from 6-8pm.  I play a variety of esoteric 80s New Wave, Gothic, Post Punk, Dance, and other fun things.  Plus I do requests.

8-10pm DJ Gavin Mistwallow will be hitting the airwaves.

In addition to the costume contest, where you can win some cold, hard cash, there will be prize giveaways from the likes of Avatar Bizarre, Immateria, Howling Moon Creations, Perceptions, and more.  As if that weren’t enough, there will also be a mini-hunt in the graveyard all weekend long, where you can find all kinds of nifty prizes from almost a dozen sponsors!

I created this for the Halloween party, and will be selling it afterwards.  The King in Yellow has a strong desire for World Domination, and he has the ability to possess the bodies of those unfortunate souls who have fallen under his power.  He is, quite possibly, an incarnation of Nyarlathotep, the Crawling Chaos.  Or possibly of Hastur.  He usually takes a gigantic humanoid form, dressed in tattered yellow robes.  Though he sometimes sports a pair of wings or a halo, I’ve given mine a set of demon horns, as befitting Pure Evil.

Remember the Eighties?  Yeah, remember how people used to dress in neon, throw on leg warmers, and dance around to She Bop by Cyndi Lauper?  Remember that?  I’m sure you do.  We all do, whether we want to or not.

I’m betting you probably don’t remember the darker, weirder side of the “Me” decade.  This is the part of the Eighties that gave us Sisters of Mercy, Front 242, Skinny Puppy, and…THE RESIDENTS.

If you don’t know who these guys are, don’t worry.  You aren’t alone.  The Residents were known for their anonymity.  They famously wore masks, and the most famous of these masks were the eyeballs with top hats.  The legend goes that these folks performed wearing these masks until the blue eye was stolen one day.  The Residents put a curse on the thief.  The thief eventually left a note where the eye could be found, but it had a huge crack in it.  From then on “Mister Blue Eye” wore a black skull, since the eye had “Died”.

Now is your chance to own one of these amazing eyeballs in Second Life. They make a fantastic costume for Eighties events, Halloween, or for going on first dates.  Hey, if your intended isn’t scared off by this, then that person is a keeper.

New Brunswick’s Naval Commander has commissioned Ye Olde Avatarre Bizarre for some uniforms of varying ranks.  This one is the Midshipman; a lower rank, but an important cog in the military machine.

The 18th Century was a time when the military dressed smartly, and both sides ran at each other in a straight line.  The New Brunswick Royal Navy was no exception.  The frock coats were a dark blue with lots of brass buttons (or wooden buttons with brass flashing).  The ubiquitous tricorner hat sported a smart Cockade on the left side, and often the officer hats would include some detailed scalloped stitching along the edge in silver or gold.

This Midshipman will be available in the New Brunswick sim, as well as my main store and on the marketplace.  If you join the New Brunswick role play group, you will receive a discount on all uniforms from Avatar Bizarre in the role play sim.

If there’s a demand, I will be making these for petites, as well.

What the world needs now is a bunch of tiny Mariachis running around, inflicting their harmonic guitar music at you.  Do they have mini-guns in their guitar cases?  Only the Mariachi knows for sure. 

Avatar Bizarre has had a Mariachi outfit available for normal avatars for a while now, but then a Dia De Los Muertos festival threatened to happen, and Avatar Bizarre was invited to be a part of it.  Since one outfit is not enough for an occasion like this, the Petite mesh version had to happen.

Not to worry, girls.  There will be a female version of this, too!

Don’t forget to celebrate the Day of the Dead in this great little outfit.  You will be able to get it at the festival, as well as at my inworld store and on the marketplace.

As for the Day of the Dead festival, that starts around Halloween time.

I’ve been invited to participate in a sim-wide Gacha event starting on October 15.  I will have an slurl for you good people as soon as I’ve got my gacha set up.

If you are unfamiliar with the Gacha, this is a prize machine, much like those old gumball machines at the drug store.  You put in a coin, and you get a random prize.  In this case, you put in 20L and you will get a fantastic item from Avatar Bizarre!  All items are transfer, so if you have duplicates, or you end up with something you don’t want, you can trade it or give it away.

My Gacha will be filled with Petites things, and a few odds and ends that can easily be shrunk down to Petite size.  Not only do I have several outfits for men and women petites, but there’s a brand new “Red Bruise” colored Nyarlathotep shoulder pet, which is only available in the Gacha for the duration of the event.

After the event, it will be 50L at my main store location.

Also in the Gacha:  Eyes, Brain Sucker, Bacon Avatar, Headlight Hat, a 50s outfit for male petites, an animated For the Love of Pete Top Hat, and more!

Folks who shop at Avatar Bizarre probably know that I will make kilts custom to order, if you have trouble finding your family tartan.  What you probably aren’t aware of is the other custom work I do.  Ordinarily, the items I make for you won’t be exclusive, but I will occasionally make an exception.

I was approached to make a Petite Mesh Avatar Swedish King outfit, complete with riding boots.  I was given a couple of very small reference pictures, but what I could see of the photos was an 18th Century style.  As I adore the men’s styles of the 18th Century, I made arrangements with the customer to make a suit exclusive only to him.

Not to worry, folks.  Since this suit turned out exceptionally well, I will be making more frock coat outfits for Petite men.  Just not in this exact style or color.

I’m thinking of something in Peacock colors for an upcoming hunt, with a matching gown for women.  If I have enough time I will also make the Peacock outfits for petites.  As the hunt starts in January, there’s a distinct possibility the Petites versions will be a reality.
