Yoga is so fucking awesome – it’s insane.

That’s right. I wouldn’t lie.

It’s May and at the Concerned Bloggers Association we decided to dedicate the month to EXERCISE. Let’s get those cuties with booties up and at ‘em! Personally, yoga is one of the best things I’ve experienced in the “world of exercise” and I can’t help but rave about it.

I’m gonna focus on the psychological awesome-ness of it all. I suffer from anxiety and the clinical diagnosis of “chronic major depression”. I am working on both items through chemistry, diet and therapy. However, yoga offers something wholly different. As an atheist, it’s difficult for me to get my head around any idea of spirituality. Luckily, yoga doesn’t offer that kind of dogma. It’s kind and gentle and allows you to thank you body for what it has offered you. We run around in our lives… grocery shopping, work, make bed, clean floors, get car fixed, dog to vet, etc etc. Frantic almost. When do we ever stop and say, “good job body on all the running around today. Thanks. You really helped me.

I know it sounds weird, but it honestly starts a fire inside of you. Something changes when you start saying thank you to yourself. Suddenly, all the glib sarcasm of calling your ass fat seems to change. It allows you to appreciate yourself on a new level.

I am sure this all sounds very new age hippy, but trust me it isn’t. Otherwise I wouldn’t go near it with a 10 foot pole. It’s just something we (Read more...)
